and the winner is going to have to earn every moment of this win
Absolutely.
As for the Pats keys to stopping the Steelers, I think it's pretty easy, they need to plug the gaps, which they didn't do October 31st AT ALL. If they make Bettis or Staley rush outside the tackles, the entire Steelers offense becomes one dimentional, because those two make their money running inside. That's what the Pats did in 2001 and that's what I think they will do again.
In terms of the secondary, everyone talks about how they are banged up, and trust me, I would much rather have Ty Law/Poole in the game playing every down, but Eugene Wilson and Rodney Harrison are still the best safety combo in the league (debatable, but top two or three at the least) and I LOVE what I have seen from Asante Samuel and Randall Gay recently. They'll probably play a lot of zone and just try to prevent the big play.
The reason I think Dillon plays a big factor in this game is because he's a change of pace, he keeps the defense honest, and most importantly, he's the best blocking RB in the game. The Pats are going to use Dan Graham as a sixth O-Lineman A LOT. I don't think Dillon is going to rush for much more then 80 yards. I put him somewhere between the 70-80 mark with at least 25 touches. But those 25 touches slows the pace of the game down, brings those 42 minutes of posession that the Steelers had last time down and basically prevents them from scoring.
The only way the Steelers win is if they score on defense or are able to establish the rush the way they did October 31st. I just don't trust Ben Roethlisberger to go out and win a game for them against the Pats. Maybe this is the game he earns that tag, who knows, but until I see it, I don't believe it can happen (much like my stance on the Colts beating the Pats in Foxboro).
The Steelers and Cowher have done an excellent job of putting Roethlisberger in a position to not have to do too much this year, and that will pay off three years down the road for sure. He's going to be a STUD QB for a long time, no doubt.
That said, I would pay money to knock that mongloid jaw off Bill Cowher's face. That dude totally plays everything up for TV...
GO PATS!!
