Every genre of music has good bands and shitty bands. You wouldnt expect someone like me to know the difference between "good" hardcore and shitty hardcore now would you? Same goes for people who dont really listen to black metal. Ill agree that the whole elitist attitude is retarded but its not that different from the attitudes displayed by everyone else on this board. I get annoyed when some uber kvlt grim douchebag acts like that around someone in the bm scene but as far as everyone else goes I couldnt care less. Any other band be it grindcore, hardcore, itsoktocrycore, whatever would treat us the same way. Assholes who go around posting shit like "black metallers are fags" are no better than the black metal fags who live up to their own stereotypes.
