therion: on their first tour in the USA. They have hopped around the country and canada, been from one coast to the other and only had to cancel the new orleans show (due to hurricane katrina). the touring group was (as far as I could tell):
as far as I could tell, the group was:
Anders Engberg (vocals)
Christofer Johnsson (guitar/vocals)
Kristian Niemann (guitar)
Johan Niemann (bass)
Sami Karppinen (drums/synths)

chorus:
Sarah Jezebel Deva (soprano)
Maria Ottoson (soprano)
Johanna Marlov (alto)
Petri Heino (baritone)
Risto Hamalainen (baritone)

so, they all came out and took their places on stage. the first few songs utilized the chorus, but they did play some old songs so they weren't used the whole night. when the saprano part of the first song came in, deva floated foward and sang. she did the the whole night, floating forth when she was needed and when she wasn't, drifting back like a spector to the back of the stage next to the rest of the chorus. the chorus was only 4-6 people (depending on how you view it), but they sounded like 30 members. you know why? they had a little help... the drummer kicked off the chorus track while sound-checking. he clicked off a sample to sound check that was the chorus. regardless of this, the chorus sounded so full and balanced.

as they played through their set, they went from newer songs to older songs to newer songs. when a member wasn't used for a sound, they went off the stage, waiting to come back. I will admit that when the "tenor" vocalist (anders) came in and sang, his vocal jarred with the rest of the chorus. I'm not sure if it was just me.

they played for an hour and a half or so. at one point, they went off for the encore and came back for more songs. I thought they were leave the chorus behind, but they didn't. they came back and played more songs for the 200 people that were in the audience. over all, this is an awesome show. after 18 years, they finally made it to the USA.
