[QUOTE="whiskey_weed_and_women:249614"]Every year the heaviest rock bands in the world venture to unassuming Youngstown, Ohio to play Emissions from the Monolith, a non-stop music festival held over the Memorial Day weekend. With Chicago being just eight hours away, the city is an essential stop for the bands touring around this event. Over the past few years Chicago has been barraged by the "Emissions" bands. They hit the city hard over a two week period starting in late May and ending in early June. While some clubs have been hospitable to the bigger bands that come through, a lot of the smaller groups have had to either pass up Chicago due to over-booking or get stuck playing on unfitting bills. The founders of the Premature Emissions fest, Stu Helm and Sean Patton, have set out to make this two and a half week jaunt an unforgettable experience for Chicago show-goers, or maybe we should say forgettable, depending on how hard the partying is. The Premature Emissions festival amalgamates the majority of touring bands heading to Youngstown with the loudest bands from Chicago, the mid-west and beyond. Over 75 metal, rock, doom, psych, space-rock, sludge and noise bands will partake in this 17-day hell ride. The Venues The festival will be held at The Note, home to the ChicagoStonerRock.com hosted "Cosmic Doom" Wednesdays, a weekly showcase of heavy bands, DJs, subversive art, and other commodities. Some of the bigger shows will be held at the Double Door, followed by late night after-party performances at The Note. Double Door and The Note are conveniently located across the street from each other in Wicker Park, making the late night bar crawl a little easier.
