I wouldnt compare it too much to obscura...that album is too twisted. The drumming on the pillory cd is INSANE, i love the blasting and i love what he does. THe guitar work is equally as good, however I believe they need to get more too the point during some songs , maybe play more of the DM styled riffs they are really catchy when they play them. The only down fall of this disc in my opinon besides the repitition is.........the vocals. I LOVE chris' gutturals they were sick in virulence and definalty sick in pillory , but the lead vocalist does a lot of stuff thats just not my cup of tea. If he was lower and more intense I think it would add an overall darker tone to the disc. Oh also the bass work on the cd is amazing. Personally I miss virulence the guitar work in that band was seriously my favorite ever , but pillory is the closest thing I can hear to virulence. Honestly pillory is one of the best bands coming out of mass at this moment. Cheers to them and I cant wait to hear more in the future.
