Ok, here's where I get to act like an opinionated asshole. I mean, as opposed to the rest of the time.

there are still good hardcore shows around, you just have to see the right bands...the Rhythmden fest in ny with shai hulud, converge, walls of jericho, my bitter end, with honor, red chord, fassw, #12looks...

Ok... did any hardcore bands play that show?

Thank you. Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Harcore = Metal = Hardcore their is no difference anymore. The only way to tell a "hardcore" band from a "metal" band is they way the dress/look/what record label they are on, Thats it! Unless you sound like hardcore bands from the 80s and they you are only trying to be retro or ironic and you suck anyway

Try: "Some people actually know what real hardcore sounds like, and like it that way EVEN THOUGH it might not get them laid or sound great bumpin' from their dad's Acura."

All Im saying is in the 80s the two were very clearly defined hardcore sounded like hardcore and metal sounded like metal. Now its all a big melting pot and their is very little difference between the two. Im not sure where it started but bands like leeway, overcast, acme, and unbroken come to mind. just my humble opinion, not trying to be mean or start any fights.

Yeah, you're right, Overcast told Iron Maiden to be influenced by punk, and Unbroken (whoever the fuck they are) told Discharge to add metal to their sound. And Metallica to add Discharge to theirs. Good job on the history.

I also love the kids who think Blood for Blood and Hatebreed are "old school". Brilliant. And, I mean, there's not even the excuse that there isn't the internet and they can't do some research in five minutes, anymore. At least kids in the early nineties and before had a good reason to be ignorant.
