yo, i actually do'nt know what drum triggers are, can anyone explain it?
A trigger is a device that usually clamps on to a drum (acoustical triggers). You plug in a 1/4" instrument cable to it & plug the other end into a trigger module or brain. The module/brain has stored drum sounds (usually 1000's), which you assign to each trigger. So in theory, when you hit the drum, it triggers the module to produce the sound you've assigned to it. There's a lot of adjustment & calibration involved to prevent mis or multiple triggering, or triggerring from other vibrations around the drums.
I'm using mechanical triggers on my kicks. They're made by Axis Percussion & mount on Axis Pedals. Instead of triggering off the drum head, they trigger off the pedal. there is a secondary mini beater that mounts on the pedal axle & a trigger box that mounts below it. You allign the mini beater to hit the trigger @ the same time the pedal beater hits the head. It's way more accurate & much less likely to mis-trigger.
