my opinion is cops better damned well know the laws they are paid to enforce.

Unfortunately, while this would be great it is unlikely. State and Federal law that it would take years of study and practice to learn. Law school it tens of thousands of dollars. We can't afford to give this to cops, we'd end up with like one cop in every city.

People look at cops like they're judge dread. It's more like CHips: They go in to their shift, a supervisor gives them an agenda for the day, and they go out and do it. If you find yourself on their agenda, you do what they SAY when they SAY IT because they have a job to do. They can't go back to the station and tell their supervisor "Oh, well we tried to tell ms. Hail The Leaf to move onto the sidewalk, but she informed us that 'she knows her rights' and refused. So we left."

You want to argue RIGHTS and LAWS, you need a lawyer. Cops are trained in how to control, incapacitate, arrest, and detain people. The law is not their concern, they just do as they are instructed.
