I don't get how Jesus' original vision of "Love yourself, love your neighbor" turned into "dont do this, dont do that, or you'll all burn in hell" in the course of 2000 years

in the bible, Jesus always seemed like a solid cat, with some cool ideas; being nice to people and everything. it's just all the crazies who took stuff way to serious.

to quote dogma: "jesus said mankind got it all wrong, they took a good think and built a belief structure out of it"
