dood why have one dood who will win 15 - 18 games when you can have three young pitchers thatll win 15 games each.
plus a young outfielder who will steal 50bases and hit 20hrs and oh yeah tear up the outfield was retarded catches.
dont knock the youth movement bro this shit is gonna get good like the braves did in the 90s
first, 15-18 wins? he's played his entire career with minnesota, not
quite
the offensive team that the red sox are. he's a lock for at least 20 wins each year with the sox. wins aren't really a good way to judge how good a pitcher is by himself, anyway. look at randy johnson in 2004. 2.60 era, 245 ip, 290 k, 0.90 whip (all ridiculous numbers), and a 16-14 record. wins are a team, not an individual stat.
and we can't know for sure that lester, ellsbury, and the rest of them are going to reach their ceiling. i think, at best, lester will be a good 3. that's good, but think of it this way. world series front 3 of beckett, matsuzaka, and lester vs. beckett, santana, and matsuzaka. i'm taking the latter. and ellsbury hasn't even played half a season yet. plenty of rookies who have made big splashes their first year seem to forget how to play after. pretty much every AL ROY winner between ichiro and pedroia has cooled off significantly. lester and ellsbury MIGHT be good, santana is a PROVEN top-fucking-tier ace.
but again, i'd be fuckin psyched if ellsbury and lester do become great. just don't discount what santana has done, he's the best pitcher of the past 5 years.
