All old mesa (pre 80s) had a 'boogie' badge on it. Mesa engineering was the amp modification end of them, and boogie was their amp making end of it. They decided to merge the names together at the end of the 80s/early 90s. The dc (dual caliber) series was created as a 'budget' amp to bridge the mark series and the rectos. The tone is more smoothed over and classic mesa sounding in comparison to the rectos with the added versatility of having the graphic eq, a signature trademark of mesa.
