club: When I came in, big backpack and all, I had my cellphone in my hand and they guy at the door patted me down. then when he felt my cc in my pocket, told me to take everything out of my pockets. As I started to do this, he went to a street fighter position with his fist jogging out in front of him. it was very akward. he's also the littlest and only white bouncer there. someone's got penis envy, I think.
for the first 3 bands there was a 1 person only moshing policy. something about a tag team mosh or something. the owner as usualy talked about the bartender, how this was the only blah blah and blah blah blah. I really never under stand a word he says and I think he grabbed my ass as he went by me.

calico system: I'd never seen these guys before. I walked in during their set and went to the back to get things ready to shoot. that was my biggest mistake... maybe this band is good, but when I went to the back to hunt for ear plugs, I found that the speakers in the back of the club went on eleven! and not only that, but the only thing coming through was the singers voice! it was freaking annoying. I went up to the front, but again, all that was coming through the front was the singers voice. it sounded really bad. I hope they are at the sick-as-sin fest with the rest of the tour so I can hear what they really sound like.

from a second story window: I'm not sure why, but their signer wasn't there. this might have something to do with the "personal reasons" for dropping off a few dates of the tour, but I don't know. the guy that was filling in was from some other band. Again, the sound system was messed and his vocals were the only thing that was mic'ed and turned up way too loud. he kept appologizing about things too. the rest of the band was crazy as usual. I need their cd for my radio show.

rememering never: they showed up basically right when they were going on. short set. at some point some people were dancing TWO AT A TIME!!! and the bouncers would grab them to stop them. the mic was f'd and there was tons of feed back, but it started sounding better at this point. They played their "closing" song, but then the auburn system guys (who were putting on the show) gave them time for another song.

club: at this point, the kids in the club were like "I came for STF so it's time to dance, have fun, and get kicked out." as usually, the bouncers just gave up. there were actually twice the normal number of bouncers here on this evening for some weird reason.

since the flood: it sounded pretty great for their set. kevin leary (the offical STF second stringer) was playing fill in for Dave. I'm guessing dave is daving spring break in cancun. The crowd had a lot of fun, but was thankfully controlled enough not to get the show shut down. For some reason, they brought in some other bouncer at this point that didn't seem to understand what was going on... he kept pulling his fist out whenever anyone got near him.

on broken wings: I expected this to be a lot more brutal that it was. Jonathan (singer) blew out his knee earlier in this tour and had a fill it. I don't know who was filling in, but he doesn't have the range that the real singer has. yes, that's right I said range. Jonathan's got low and br00tal and high-ptched vulture sounds, the new singer just has a tough-guy-ish voice. I guess on tour, go to see them for their breakdowns like everyone else. the real singer was there are did 2-3 songs. one of which was a rap-instro... I must say, it was surprisingly well done...
