I have to do a hard boot alot, especially after taking off/putting on files. That's when you hold down the button on the side for 10 seconds and it resets the player to default. It doesn't erase the songs, just any EQ or menu settings. if I had to do it again I'd save my money and get an Ipod or a Zune player.
