I have the canon hf200 that I got for $500ish a year ago.
Go to youtub and search for my youtube stream. http://www.youtube.com/revaaron probably.
Those are recorded with the built in attinuating microphone, but it has a stereo mic port. I just need a hot shoe adapter for it.
My mom got the same camera to video her husbands racecars.

I think the hf300 I out now. The hfs30 or hfs20 are the "higher end" models I think.
