Don't need your credentials. My comment about how I didn't agree with your logic was rooted in the fact that you said corruption on the part of the troops would extend the war, not that gaining support from locals when you're killing their families was difficult. Corruption can entail a lot of things. But I can agree with you that if the strategy is to gain support from non-fundamentalist locals, killing their families will undoubtedly slow down the process.
