Using a spotter >>>>> Getting stapled to the bench.

It's not only good to use a spot for super heavy weight, but also for getting a few extra reps out of your set. The key is having an experienced spotter, not the overweight 20-something douche that wears Tapout gear every day and tries to look tough.

You always want to ask for a body-building spot over a powerlifting spot. Body-building spots keep you moving, powerlifting spots wait until you've been stapled, then pick the weight up.
