Aaron, thank you for posting this. I was actually just about to do so when I found this thread. <3 I miss you, dude
I'm actually certain Steve Gadd could play blast beats if he wanted to, but that's besides the point. I'll take all these posts as compliments, except for the one about the drums sounding fake. That's the only thing I'll sink to the level of responding to. I use an electronic kick drum with this band. Besides that, there is no triggering/sound replacing/drumagoging, on the snare/toms at all.
Don't get me wrong, I don't give a fuck if someone doesn't like my drumming/our music. It's more that I'm bragging a little that every snare of every blast that you hear on this (no matter how imperfect) was actually played.
I'm also pleasantly surprised to be referred to as "the kid", as I'm noticing very often that I'm among the oldest at the shows we play. :/
