farewell to twilight: they were the openning band, but were from wisconsin.. I was looking at the lineups from this place and it seems like the touring band always opens? I would suggest putting them in the middle, jmho. anyhow, they sounded sort of like underoath (minus the keyboards) in their cleaner parts. I would probably consider this more indie than anything else.

and then there were none: formally neverfall from salem. they sounded really good. a bit more like darken the sky then neverfall. I think it's the new singer. the best part of the set was the "sample".

the first annual: not really my bag as far as music goes, but they were a really tight band. the drummer was absolutely on point with everything. one of the guitar players got into an accident on the way to the show too... he seemed a little shaken up on the stage. the vocals were basicaly indie vocals with some spacey guitar work.

highway child: it's funny that bob w. always made fun of his singing for e.l.a. but joins up with a band were he does more singing. this band is a 70's rock explosion with some different guitar work that sounds closer to the young idea (the other bob's old band).

mavis beacon: they were pretty sloppy and admitted it on the stage. It was poppy music close to the promise ring. one of the cops out side said it reminded him of minor threat. I laughed, but I could kind of see that.

draw blood: eh.. most to the derry folks filed out to be harrased by the cops outside. the set was still good. that's what distinguishes a professional band from a band just starting up, the ability to perform well even if there are only 15-20 people in the room. I finally got to hear the vocals well. I think the new cd's going to do them well. though I can't see grahm jumping into the audience for a sing along at the palladium.

also, coming back home.. I forgot how little the cops had to do. they kept bugging us for standing on the sidewalk, telling us they were going to "have a problem" if we stayed there. the other thing that stuck me is the complete lack of Derry residents to find something to do other than harrass the cops to harrass the kids not to stand in front of their "property".. IM SO GLAD I MOVED OUT OF THAT TOWN!~
