for Gabbard and a minor leaguer.

and the KG deal is supposedly being announced at a press conference tonight for the C's (yay) Jefferson is in the trade (boo)

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jul 31,2007 3:59pm
still waiting on Dye too but that one's unlikely. today is a great day for boston sports nonetheless.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 31,2007 4:01pm
I'd love to see Dye come to the Sox, but I think his no trade clause negotiations are gonna make it pretty impossible.

The Yankees just unloaded Scott Proctor. I don't remember to who, or for who, but it's an upgrade for them either way.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jul 31,2007 4:03pm
ya they picked up Wilson Bettimet (sp?) and also we got rid of Joel Pinero for a bag of cash and prob some minor league prospect.

toggletoggle post by da chief at Jul 31,2007 4:23pm
ok i am against this since i just read theyre giving up david murphy for gagne.

wtf, this is like trading away jeff bagwell for larry andersen.

bringing Dye here, ok thats a good trade but its not done and wont be now.

we have no need for David Murphy since we have Ellsbury... i'm more depressed about losing Gabbard.

the deal is consummated

i understand about Gabbard they turned that dood around, i still think ditching Murphy is a wrong way to go

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 31,2007 6:18pm
Dude, Murphy was at best going to be a back-up. Ellsbery is going to be our center fielder next year without question. Not to mention that Pawtucket's other outfielder Brandon Moss has been hitting better then both of them this year (damn near .300 all season).

Gabbard is a soild pitcher and will be able to be full time with the Rangers. We still have Lester and coming right up behind him are Buckholtz, Bowden and Masterson who are already dominating pitchers in the minors and are without a doubt gonna be in our rotation in the next couple of years.
On top of which we have two other guys, Jed Lowrie (SS) and Bubba Bell (OF) who are both looking like great fielders with Lowrie as a place hitter with awesome On Base % and Bell as a power hitter cranking out doubles and home runs.

Trust me, we hardly lost much in terms of our farm system which teams across the MLB are jerking off to.

toggletoggle post by da chief at Jul 31,2007 6:37pm
hey dan just cause you talk to niggers all day doesnt mean you gotta vomit what they said to you here on the interwebs.

im just saying i dont think trading him for gagne was the best thing to do, i think if anything we could have sent him and another player to chitown for Dye.

toggletoggle post by Frank Shamrock at Jul 31,2007 6:57pm
Chicago wanted Delcarmen, Masterson, Hansen and Pena... aah, no thanks. Go fuck yourself, Chicago.

toggletoggle post by da chief at Jul 31,2007 6:59pm
i could stand to lose hansen, pena and murphy ok goodbye

Worst deals for Boston teams all year.

Gabbard is way better than Gagne at this point because Gagne is washed-up with all his injuries. Gabbard was in Schilling's spot in the rotation and made up for his no-name status by pitching amazingly in the past 3 starts.

As far as KG goes, I honestly don't want him here. He bitched about coming here in the first place and I don't doubt he will probably opt out as soon as possible. I'm thinking maybe the Ray Allen deal sparked KG's interest but KG is NO WAY worth as much as the Celtics gave for him.

Ainge is going to get lynched.

gabbard wasnt really that good, look at the teams he pitched against.

this deal gives us three closer-quality relievers. cha-ching

toggletoggle post by da chief at Jul 31,2007 9:48pm
again id be more excited if we got Dye for the people we gave up plus Pena

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jul 31,2007 9:50pm
Dye would have been a great pick up to rest big Papi till the post season...

and two seconds after writing this ... PAPI HITS A HOME RUN!

yesssss.

toggletoggle post by tylerl  at Jul 31,2007 10:51pm
dye is a .235 hitter with a good amount of power, and we have $35 mil a year invested in our outfield. pitching is much more important for a team that'll most likely be going up against anaheim and detroit in october

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 31,2007 11:37pm
CTB, wrong over all.
Gabbard did pitch great, but part of that was not just filling in for Schilling, but was also to show him to be a chip to trade and that he did have talent. This was to show he was NOT a no name anymore and was worth something to a team like the Rangers.

Gagne is a rental. We have him for two months and the playoffs. So we paid little and got a lot for a short amount of time. So the risk is small. On top of the fact that now Brandon Donnlley is out for the season with tommy john surgery, we'd need someone to fill that slot in the bullpen and why not one of the top bullpen pitchers in the whole fucking league.

Dye would have been great as another rental, with his number picking up again after the all star break. However, the White Sox asked for too much. Then tried to resign him to an extension. So it wasn't going to happen. As Sean said, I could stand to lose Hansen and Pena for Dye. Not a prime prospect like Justin Masterson who is on FIRE.

Everyone knows that KG had second thoughts after one of his closest friends in the NBA, Ray Allen, signed with the Celtics and he saw what kind of an impact he could have with a core of vets like that. Ainge isn't geting lynched anytime soon if this works out like it looks like it can.

yeah its truely the one thing i miss about not being back up North, they have no FUCKING sports shows down here.

i hate, no i fucking loathe what theyve done to ESPN.

if you watch that WHO'S NOW segement you are not a man.

that shit is weak and so not needed, when did just covering sports become not good enough for a sports network. seriously someone please explain what theyre doing to sportscenter, nfl live and baseball tonight cause all those shows are dogshit now.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 1,2007 12:13pm
ya i really have no idea what the fuck is the point of that "Who's Now" bullshit. i guess its just filler. i usually just watch Around the Horn and PTI cause Sportcenter is full of so much regurgitated crap these days.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Aug 1,2007 6:32pm
Those two shows are worth a damn. Rome should be blowing little boys behind a Dairy Queen in Daytona Beach.
He is like an accidental self-parody.

WEEI is great. I like the Big Show myself. That and using the Gap Band to hang up on idiot callers.

elaborate. considering he scores, defends and rebounds. most complete player in the game
only player to average 20 pts, 10 rbs, and 4 assists for 9 straight years. the next closest is Larry Bird and Wilt Chamberlain with only 6 years in a row
...yeah, he's worthy of being hated

first ever player with 18,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 4,000 assists, 1,200 steals, and 1,500 blocks in his playing career.

yeah, hes horrible

I think the biggest flaw, aside from it ever actually making it to the air, of "Who's Now" was exposed as soon as Michael Vick got indicted. The man wasn't even in the faggy poll and he's been on Sportscenter more than anyone else since that whole gay segment started. For something so, "now" it's pretty fucking dated.

And I can't be the only person who thinks of Hansel whenever they plug who's now.

ok, i def feel the same way about a few athletes. some i dont even know the reason why, just hate em. Garnett definatly not one of them tho!

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 4,2007 9:38pm
I've already gotten flamed by my best friend for my KG hate but I think a lot of it has to do with his attitude about Boston and then all of a sudden changing his mind and fellating them.

That's douchebaggery.

toggletoggle post by jesus  at Aug 4,2007 10:06pm edited Aug 4,2007 10:09pm
nah i dont think it had to do with the city. he just didnt want to go from a shit team in 'sota to a shit team in boston. when we picked up ray allen im sure he just reaized that the 3 of them could be deadly. micheal wilbon making the assumption that KG thought boston was a bad/racist city he didnt eant to play in was completely out of line. hes a fucking jackass. he lives in DC for christs sake, like theres no racial tension there.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 4,2007 10:09pm
Yea, I thought that was retarded to say about Boston seeing as who plays for the Sox and the Patriots. Give me a break, some of the greatest Celtics players were black. And you're gonna sit there and tell me Boston is a racist city? I wanted to punch them all in the nuts for that.

The Celtics are a young team that need direction. I didn't agree with throwing away some good young, possible franchise players in Gerald Green, Al Jefferson and Delonte West. I hate Danny Ainge a lot and I'll keep saying that, haha.

toggletoggle post by jesus  at Aug 4,2007 10:26pm
see i disagree, big al will be a stud, but delonte and gerald are novelties. for seperate reasons. dolonte is a good charismatic kid, who ill admit makes a big shot now and then. but other than that his game is very lacking. if hes playing the point he chokes and acts like a 2 guard. and gerald, hes just way to cocky and thinks that cause he can jump high and make sportscenter he doesnt have to learn any other aspect of the game, ie defense and passing. he needs to grow up fast. gomes was the only big loss in the trade if you ask me. i mean al is awsome, but was needed for the trade to go through, not gomes. hes a great 6th man on a team with no bench left

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 4,2007 10:35pm
I was thinking about Gomes too.

Celtics definitely shouldn't have ditched Jefferson. Although they did about the best deal they could with him.

And if the Sox really needed relief, they should've just fucking bumped Lester down to the bullpen and gave Gabbard his spot in the rotation. I understand the whole "he had cancer" thing, but he just plain doesn't seem to be cutting it.
