I've been following this story for a while. It's not nearly as funny as the Jets and several UFL teams passing on signing him.

For a minute I was going to try and make a case for Russell being a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf, but the stats just don't lie.

Russell: 31 Games, 18 TDs, 23 INTs, 52.1 CMP%, 22 Fumbles, 4,083 career yards
Leaf: 25 Games, 14 TDs, 36 INTs, 48.4 CMP%, 24 Fumbles, 3,666 career yards

Oakland, believe it or not, had a better offensive line than the Leaf era Chargers but still. The man was a machine.
