After that game yesterday, I'm not afraid of the Jets at all. They managed to beat in the final seconds the weakest, most beat up Colts team in ten years while Payton Manning has been having the worst year of his career since he was a rookie. Jim Cauldwell is probably the most useless coach I've ever seen, just standing on the sidelines like a statue, not saying a word and making nothing but pointless shitty calls. Neither of those teams impressed me at all by the end of the game. Even if it's not another 45-3 blowout, I can see the Patriots winning with a fairly comfortable lead. If the Jets "playing at their best" as some people think they did yesterday can only manage no points in the first half and seventeen in the entire game against New England, they are fucked.

Blacks indeed play for both teams, but only one team has niggers.

Ryan knew back in December that a playoff rematch was looming. “I told Belichick after the game, ‘We’ll see you in Round 3,” Ryan said.

So what did Belichick say in response? “He just looked at me.”

Belichick explains himself to no one. I'm so hyped up for this game I don't think I can even stomach a critical breakdown of it. The Jets were all mouth after they won the first game, and they've been all mouth since they lost the second one. Break the stats down any way you want to, but this is a team that does NOT deserve to be competing for a Super Bowl title. If you don't believe in football karma then you didn't watch Michael Vick kill his own season yesterday.

Fuck Derrell Revis. Contrary to popular belief, coverage isn't just about cornerbacks. The Patriots do more with their 3rd and 4th options across the middle of the field than any other team in the league, and the Jets answer to that is Eric Wright. Please... PLEASE unleash the awesome power of Eric Wright on us. Let him raise his fist and cry to the sky in a He-Man-Esque display of supernatural might summoning the spirits of ancient mediocre defensive backs, ripping his shirt off and spilling an offering of blood to Tyrone Poole as he commits a defensive holding penalty that hands us a conversion on 3rd and 2.

Jim Caldwell had a great point when he said the post season is about running the ball, and stopping the run. Yes. The Jets have the advantage there. If they play in an outer body trance all day they can keep Brady off the field. But let me tell you something else. Let me tell you what the post season, football, and LIFE is all about, and that's making things happen when the opportunities are there. Sanchez choked in almost every opportunity he had to make plays on Saturday and the Colts let him off the hook. The one time he makes a play is Edwards at the end of the game. To beat this Patriots team you need to beat this Patriots team, and I say no fucking way does Sanchez do it.

BRING ON THE FUCKING JETS

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jan 10,2011 11:52am
the only way the Jets can beat us if we have a TERRIBLE game. and if thats the case we have no business being in the playoffs any further. I cant see that happening because of the team's momentum and all around talent available.

Could it be a Duane Starks sacrifice instead?

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 10,2011 2:10pm
I'm not worried about Revis at all. Yes, when Moss was part of our offense, D. Revis did an excellent job of shutting him down.... that COULD have been in part to the fact that Moss literally only runs ONE route... but who's counting? I'm gonna say that Hernandez & Branch will be the biggest play-makers on our side of the ball. (Not including Brady of course, who will overcome all of the blitz packages the Jets throw at him, and throw for 4 TDs with 0 Interceptions.)

Logan Mankins is gonna make it rain. (you know what i mean.... or DO you??!)

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jan 10,2011 2:21pm
my first instinct was Duane Starks, but I thought it was too obscure. Forgot this was the bastion for kvlt fvvtball knowledge.

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Jan 10,2011 2:22pm
Green-Ellis and Woodhead are going to be key in this game. If we can esgablish a power running game, even if we are only averaging 3 yards per carry with Ellis, it will allow Woodhead to do what he does best, quick runs out of misleading formations and sneaking through zone coverage with decent gains after the catch. I am expecting the Pats to do a lot of smash mouth football early to tire out the Jets D, which should be easy considering how many options we have for running backs and receivers. Once the Jets tire out and start playing a little softer, Brady goes for the throat.

Eh. The Pats are playing an entirely different style and don't need to rely on the deep ball. The defense is entirely different as well. McCourty with a pick 6 and a Fatality to win the game with 45 minutes left.

The other day I had a nice lengthy chat with Buddy Ryan. The topics spanned decades of football with topics ranging from the 46 defense, his near fist fight with Ditka on MNF and his experience taming the wild beast that was Randall Cunningham. Eventually our discussion shifted to the topic of his son Rex's recent interest in grindcore. Apparently Rextopher has taken a shine to Anal Cunt as of late. I asked Buddy what songs his son enjoyed by the long running Boston maestros of hate. Without hesitation he quipped back

Bill O'Brien strikes again. Even Belichick was noticably mad at him during the game. Here's an idea, maybe throw some more screen when they're getting pressure without blitzing and having everyone covered to try and loosen up the coverage...OR GO NO HUDDLE IN THE 4TH WHEN YOU'RE DOWN 2 SCORES

also, whoever their ST coach is should be shot...A FAKE PUNT ON THE JETS SIDE OF THE FIELD? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

and btw, the refs blew a call in the end zone in the 1st quarter that ended up swinging the whole momentum of the game...Cromartie was molesting Tate, which led to a Brady sack and a FG. Granted, Crumpler should've caught that TD the play before, but still, it was a blown call, and the Pats couldn't move the ball for another 2 and a half quarters after that. ATTN Gestapo Goodell: you want to make the game better? Instead of making the season 18 games (which no one besides the greedy owners wants anyways), GET BETTER REFS!

...and one more thing, if the Jets win the Super Bowl, I'm gonna jump off the Tobin...any world in which that asshole is a SB winning coach is a world I don't want to be a part of

No, it's not Belichick's fault.

Brady was throwing passes to receivers who weren't even turned around to catch the ball. Branch missing that 4th down pass was huge too because they could have scored on that drive instead of a turnover on downs.

No one was picking up the Jets' blitzes and it looked like the offensive line quit on Brady hence the 5 fucking sacks.

Bill O Brien is a fucking retard. How the hell are you NOT gonna run a hurry up offense within the last 5 minutes of the game down by 2 scores? And you're gonna execute run plays??

I still do not believe the Jets are the better team. The Patriots averaged over 30 points a game for the entire season. I'm almost wondering if that first round bye had something to do with it.

Realistically again,

The Pats have most of their key guys locked down for several years to come, and the last 2 drafts have laid the foundation nicely. This team's best football is still another year or 2 down the line, and maybe 3 or 4 players away from being the 2007 team. There are brighter days to come, but not one second before Pittsburgh takes a bite out of the Jets.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jan 18,2011 10:37pm
I agree. If they use all the picks they have this year and have another good draft class, The Pats could really be set up for years. They need maybe a vet deep threat that's not gonna be a basket case like Moss, to get the pass rush clicking again because they have not been putting as much pressure on the QB's as they should, the O-line needs some new blood to restock for the future (if they can work a deal with Mankins, DO IT). Personally, I want the front seven to get back to romping dudes. Pure and simple.

Mike Florio made a good point that the Pats should consider letting Matt Light go, moving Vollmer to left tackle and using their leftover resources to keep Logan Mankins. Either way they're going to have to fill the RG position because I doubt Stephen Neal is coming back.
