toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at Jan 26,2005 2:47am
europe is so much cooler than the USA in terms of doom support.

"i wish i lived in europe"
when i see the pics on rttp of your concerts in the us i'm sometimes jealous... i live in europe, it's not that cool as it sometimes looks like. and of course you won't ever travel to belgium (about 1500 kilometers away) because of one concert... in europe we support the underground pretty much, that's great of course. but on these underground-gigs you can be pleased if there are more than 50 people in the audience... very bad... the prices are permanent growing which doesn't make it better... and new bands have it pretty hard (e.g. to find a rehearsal-room)... but it's different from country to country i think.
what i wanted to say: be happy, you have many good shows and there are many good bands from the us! support the underground.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jan 26,2005 8:35am
yes it is different depending on the country...i'm italian and other than italy lived in london and vienna and stayed in France and Germany a lot...it's always easy to take the train all over europe...so i disagree about not traveling for a show...i have and know many others that have as well..oh and i'm not sure where you are from but if it's belgium...that's a pretty cool place but unfortunately didn't get to see enough of it...

we get about 50 people at underground shows as well. but we speak english so it's better.

the difference between white trash and euro trash is, us white trash know we are ignorant and don't care, and euro trash are ignorant but think they are more informed and superior.

^says the guy who has never been to Europe...way to go joe!

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Jan 26,2005 11:17am
im talking about 'euro trash' from boston, not actual europeans

the yuppy college kids

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 26,2005 11:17am
I think that the grass is always greener.
also traveling != driving a long distance to a show, they are two completely different things.
After talking with kids from europe, they won't drive 100-200 miles to a show where here they will sometimes.

with Boston, Worcester, Portlan, PVD, Hartford, and even NYC so close to each other and all the motivated people here, we seem have a lot more shows that most places in the country and the world. People are jealous of New England.

I lived both in Europe and in the US, and there's one thing I know. I'm screwed for life. I will miss Europe all my life, but if I go back to live there, I will miss the US. Good way to go: keep travelling but don't move.

toggletoggle post by kellthevalkyrie  at Jan 26,2005 12:44pm
I don't think I wish I lived in Europe, but I do with I was rich with a super fast jet plane so I could visit whenever I wanted to.

i've lived in both as well

and i will always live in the US so many more wonderful opportunities...and europe a wonderful place to vacation =)
i can't wait to take the reverend there!!!

toggletoggle post by dyingmuse   at Jan 27,2005 12:16am
take me take me!

toggletoggle post by psychogirl at Jan 27,2005 6:41am
yeah, i sometimes drive to a show pretty far away as well. but if i wouldn't have friends where i can stay or wouldn't get on guestlist i think i won't travel that far. it depends on the bands, i can't say exactly.
it's right many europeans won't drive more than 200 miles to see a show, specially germans i think. i talked to a few of them cause in germany are always great festivals in summer...
if there's an euopean tour of a band, they will play 20 gigs on the average. so you can imagine you won't have pretty far to travel... that's cool. other than a festival... can be very far away...

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jan 27,2005 7:01am
i guess you missed my question..
where in europe are you from?

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Jan 27,2005 10:11am

i feel that in general more opportunities are in the US i also think healthcare is best here.

Do you live in Wien or elsewhere in Austria?

I used to work in Wien on Mariahilfer Strasse

damn i could go on and on...

i used to love to walk around and get lost in the streets or sit someplace and just write...

toggletoggle post by psychogirl at Jan 31,2005 6:16am
yeah, i speak german with a bad dialect :-)
@succubus: sounds very cool... i love writing too... it's good you found a place you'd like to stay. i can't say anything about healthcare in the us but isn't it private???
i live in innsbruck. but i like vienna too, there i saw the best concerts ever (if you know "no mercy" and "x-mess" - festivals.... so geil!!!).
würdest du wieder zurück kommen?
