lol I just heard this cd.........wtf are they thinking. It has metalcore breakdowns in it, gay singing , and in flames rip off riffs. I knew this was going to happen I suppose. Why didnt they just stick with how they were on conforming to abnormality?

i still have yet to hear anything off it, so i cannot make a judgement.

I have it and I don't think it's terrible at all. They don't, however do anything weird like noise, the record is pretty straight forward, which could get boring. Or like on lucid interval where they got the full band for that awesome last track. It seems like they just wanted to make a strictly heavy album. The breakdowns are gay, and the stoner song sucks, but the drumming is on point and I think the vocals sound amazing. They need to go back to sub bass and frequencies that hurt dogs.

I really like the CD not the craziest Cephalic Carnage but still really good.

i am not a fan. the new Origin however rocks my socks into the next room, then raped my lil sister and then robbed the gas station across the street before plowing into a school crossing guard, and then fleeing for Mexico.

obviously the metalcore breakdowns in one of the tracks is a bash on metalcore itself. you think you're the only one laughing at them, they are probably laughing with you.

my friend bought the CD last night....i never cared for cephalic carnage so i wasn't impressed by the new album

I never heard anything good by this band.

i think the cd is great. yeah it has metalcore breakdowns, but its more or less just them being them. get over it. the vocals rule, and the riffing still does. they just take bigger stabs at heavy music in general. christ, theres a straight meshuggah and napalm ripoff, both complete with dead on vocals. get a sense of humor. they certainly do.

I talked to the guitarist Steve about two years ago when they were on tour with Shai Hullud,and he told me that they were writing new material that had some "metalcore" influences and I thought he was joking. Guess not,I haven't heard the new disc yet but I'm sure it's not that bad.

i think it a killer cd, dying will be the death of me is a killer song too, fuck all you. some of you people are really lame when you listen to a cd and a metalcore alarm goes of in yer pee brains and bash a great cd. and i don't even like metalcore. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

New Cephalic Carnage was slightly dissapointing, especially the song on there that sounds like blood for blood. The Origin, however, most certainly compels me to induce atrocities

why is everybody bitching about this CD so much, it a shit load of sick Cephalic-type grind, way better than Lucid Interval I might add, and the metalcore is an obvious joke. these guys have always done retarded shit...Black Metal Sabbath..I mean come on. believe it or not, but they actually have fun with music. the joke's on you sucka.

Let me do this again. This album is lame in a death metal aspect. I like a lot of metalcore, I just find it funny that a DM band who used to be insane did this. And fuck you about the devourment comment. . I didnt start this thread to start a fight I just wanted to see what people had to say about this album.

I like the album alot! Picked it and Origin up yesterday and I've been having a good time since.

So is this jokingly metalcore or is it "SHIT MAN WE GOTS TO GET OURSELVES ON ROADRUNNER!"

It's joking, definitely. I saw a description of the music video for "Dying Will be the Death of Me" and in it the band kidnaps a "trendy mallcore" kid and forces him to listen to their music. I mean, really, just look at the song title. This band is all about having a good time and doing whatever. "Piecemaker" is a great stoner track.

This album is awesome. not as good as Lucid Interval, but still great.

i listened to the whole cd last night... i was a little dissapointed with a few parts, there was one vocal section that sounded like slipknot early in the cd. but i think overall the cd sounds tighter than lucid interval, which for most of the cd was loose, and they couldn't play it tight live. the drummer has always been amazing, and he plays up to par on this cd, and makes the parts that sound "metalcore" still sound good. but i agree with cdan, they wrote different parts to have fun and explore new genres. if uncle jesse on full house just wrote a new song that sounded exactly like "forever", the ladies wouldn't still love him. go complain about saves the day and stop yer bitchin. buy this cd and find out for yourself.

i will also say that "dying will be the death of me" is clearly a joke song; as mentioned before, the title itself is reason alone to realize it's a joke, as well as the clean singing and the lyrics. i think one of the staples to cephalic carnage is their sense of humor and ability to incorporate different styles of music--whether jokingly or seriously--without straying too far from their sound. i would definitely say that i was a bit disappointed in the overall speed of the album. i think if there were more fast parts than 'breakdowns' if you will, this album would be close to the best. i still love it; it's got groove, originality as usual, experimentation, humor, and i love the art on this cd more than any other release they've put out.

new origin is also sick as hell; i don't think i've heard more sweeps on a yngwie malmsteen cd...ridiculous

new bloodbath is also a good one. it's not as old school as "resurrection through carnage" or "breeding death," but it's still sick. peter tagtgren definitely filled mikael akerfeldt's shoes well.
