Watching the Bs is getting painful. The game last night in Calgary was over after the first 5 minutes. You can add in another year with no Stanley Cup in Boston. This will mark 35 years without one.I wonder if they'll go as long as the Red Sox did without a championship. If so Ill be dead and cremated by then

figured i'd keep this thread alive after that abysmal performance. really? 5-fucking-0!?!?! tim thomas should be hung.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 21,2008 10:52pm

toggletoggle post by Pires at Apr 21,2008 11:10pm

Tim Thomas wasone of the best goalies in the league this year and is the main reason they even made it this far. For a team that was supposed to be dead last going 7 games against the habs in the play off's is a hell of a feat.

have you actually watched any of the series? if they played any fucking defense in front of the guy, thomas probably could've had himself a shutout in this series. terry sawchuk wouldn't have been able to prevent those goals with that kind of defense. people always shit on tim-tom, but he's easily the team's mvp and had he been tending goal for detroit, san jose, montreal or pittsburgh this season, he'd be taking home the vezina trophy. without thomas, the bruins would've finished at or near the bottom of the league this year.

my sentiments exactly. even though they lost tonight, it was a hell of a series and i consider this season a success and a great building block for an up and coming young team. i would've been happy to see them win one game in the series let alone go toe to toe with one of the most talented teams in the league and push them to a game 7. and we have tim thomas to thank for the exciting ride. without him, the habs sweep the b's.

and while I hate the habs I am glad we at least went down to an original 6 rival team.

Rask should be playing goalie next year.
Tim Thomas = Bill Buckner in disguise

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 22,2008 10:24am
i doubt rask will be ready to be a full-time starter next year. tim thomas is apparently a great goalie in disguise because people seem to doubt him way too much. if the bruins get rid of him next year, i think the red wings should grab him and ride him to another stanley cup and watch him collect his first vezina trophy. i don't understand all the thomas bashing. he was great this year and excellent in the playoffs.

right cause that really means something josh.
last night was horrendous! no matter how you cut it!

the b's still suck.
& charra is soft as puppy shit...

GO C'S!

haha, I don't mind Thomas so much.. he's decent. I just think at times he can seem inconsistent. When he's on, he's on.

Go Cs.

a goalie will never have the chance to be consistent when his d is piss poor.

exactly. thomas would be a top goalie for a better defensive team. i think it's funny how all the hockey scribes have been praising brodeur the last couple seasons as the best goalie ever. brodeur is a good goalie, but he's the most overrated goalie of all time. he has played for the best defensive team in hockey for his whole career. best ever? no way. of all the goalies i've ever seen in my lifetime, patrick roy was by far the best. is roy the best of all time? maybe, but i can't really say because i didn't see sawchuk and plante and tony esposito and cheevers and all the other greats before my time, but i'm damn sure roy is the best goalie of my lifetime and that brodeur, while very good, is not even in roy's league.

i'm just happy they forced a game 7. anything past that was to be considered a bonus.

for me anything beyond avoiding a sweep by montreal was a bonus, so i'm really happy with what they did.

I change my mind about Thomas now. He was awesome last night and the game before. Fucking two 1-0 wins back to back. First time since 1936

Thomas should be in the #1 spot. Two awesome games this week so far.

I don't think Rask is ready yet.

and you have that wrong.

Manny Fernandez = Bill Buckner in disguise.

I'm looking forward to seeing Lucic come in and fill the void that's been there since Neely retired. At least they look like they are playing as more of a team this season than last season.

toggletoggle post by aril at Oct 29,2008 4:26pm
haha, I posted that last year.
Not a huge fan of Fernandez. Anyone with the last name Fernandez in the NHL won't cut it.

They actually look pretty good this year. If they hadn't lost those games in the shoutouts, they'd be right up there on top.

BACKED 100%

I have an ESPN account I usually use to troll big stories about the Patriots and Jets with, but today I went off, Coach's Corner style, on some stupid broad from Dallas who was defending Avery and Ott's play last night..

It's simple, if you're some sunbelt moron who's never been on the ice and didn't start watching the NHL until the neutered '90s you'll have no problem with Ott and Avery's play and whine about Hnidy pounding Niskanen when Niskanen was trying to pile on Savy.

If you've ever played the game, at even the lowest squirt levels, you'd know that hockey is a brotherhood. No matter how much you want to beat your opponent you NEVER go after a man's knees or throw him headfirst into the boards. And if you do, even inadvertently, you answer the damn bell. The instigator rule, instituted by suits who never played a shift, never woke up at 4am for practice and never threw down for a teammate has ruined the NHL with cowardly Euro stickwork and cheapshots. Say what you want about whether or not Bob Probert, Stu Grimson or Dave Brown would make a modern NHL roster, but at least they had honor for the code of the game. Steve Ott's a marginal NHLer who wouldn't last a season in an instigator-rule free NHL, same for Avery and all the pests of their ilk.

ott is the biggest fag in the league. instigating, but not fighting is low. he should've taken his lumps.
