Why is it wrong for people to like different styles of music? I love metal, but I like it for the music, not just because its metal, like most people. I like old Motown, Rap, R&B, Blues, whatever just as much.And rap can be very musical. Listen to anything that the Neptunes have produced. Even the Roots, they play all of their own music. And "niggers babbling"? There's a good chance that they are all smarter than you, and have better vocabulary than most people you know. Stop being closed minded and venture out. You like and learn something.

I just don't like the sound or feel, and most of all most of the lyric content of Rap artists. I will admit a very few rap artists, and they are probably not rap, are good. But for the most part Metal, Classic rock, European Folk, Hindustani classical, classical, and progressive music is all I can listen to without getting upset that some people have mass followings of fans while other groups are lucky to tour once a year.

I think a lot of the progressive hip hop these days is quite musical. At least they are going beyond sampling a James Brown record or a soul record. Artists like El-P, MF Doom, RJD2, or Kool Keith productions are taking elements from classic rock, world music, and using analog synths that are played by the producer. The major gripe I have with hip hop is egos. Rap is about saying how badass you are and mostly bragging. I like metal because mostly they let the music and the musicianship speak for itself. I make rap records, but I almost totally listen to metal, so I sort of adopt that attitude of not caring about image, and just writing about good concepts that will be understood by intelligent, lovers of music. I would hope my hip hop could be appreciated by metal heads, because I sample metal, and naturally reference metal bands in my lyrics."Darkthrone, kingdoms Emperor, seek to the Exodus/Son of Darkness, stay Immortal in the freezing temperatures". To me music is music and I know what good music is and it's about whatever nods my head and makes me feel.

And thats good. You're no limiting yourself to one style. Branching out is something you need to do.

p.s I think the reason most people are mad here is because this community mainly focuses on Metal and Metal like music, so they are afraid of other music genres taking over the boards, sure let a wu-tang post slip in here or there, but what if tomorrow there was a post about how awesome the Good cHARLOTte concert was?

Holy fuck Wu killed the Palladium last night. Meth was definately the most active, crowd walking and getting the crowd the most hype with "M-E-T-H-O-D Man". They did ALL the classics, "It's Yours", "Ice Cream", "Triumph", "Liquid Swords", "Incarcerated Scarfaces", "Cream" and we all sang Ol Dirty songs. They even did acapella freestyles which I thought Cappadonna was the best. U God forgot the words and drank too much Hennessee. RZA and GZA dropped some strong words on everyone.

I thought some RTTP heads were going to the Palladium show. Well?

The riff I can think of that's copied pretty much exactly as it was before, is that riff in that Dissection song, I think Unhallowed, that Bodom ripped off, but all in all, in death and black metal, since the larger part of the riffs are all really fast and sometimes really simple (especially in black metal), there are a lot of occasions where a riff sounds a LOT like another riff from another band, but maybe in a different key with maybe a couple notes in a series changed or something. I don't feel like going back and seeing if this post makes sense, so sorry if it just hurt anyone's face to read it.
