Okay, so as most of you know, the longtime drummer of Blind Guardian left the band shortly after "Night at the Opera" was released.

I was curious where he went. He went out, found a singer who sounds almost EXACTLY like Hansi, and wrote a whole shitload of stuff like old BG. He wrote a lot of the older material, so his new band sounds more like Blind Guardian than they do themselves. (have you heard the terrible "Fly" EP?)

This is the band Persuader that the guitarist and singer of Savage Circus came from. Pretty decent powermetal itself, but a little more industrial.

persuader was awesome. i knew when i heard the songs it was that guy. he does sound exactly like hansi

fly didnt bother me, I took it for what it was and that was just a single. its one of those songs if you heard it in the context of a full album you probably wouldn't think its that bad.

and yea, this singer sounds EXACTLY like hansi.

i care. this shit is awesome. i just recently took "somewhere far beyond" out of my cd player after a month and a half long stint in there so... im nothing but excited for this.

Blind Guardian is one of my favorite bands, and this is definately a band that will be a force to be reckoned with... I can't wait to hear more

I've only heard a little from the Fly EP, and it sounded like Garbage. I think A Night At The Opera is just as good as their old stuff though.

This song kicks ass, but I wish the singer didn't sound so much like Hansi. It would be better if they could have got a singer with a more individual style. Whatever, it still kicks ass and singers, like all musicians, are bound to evolve over time, so I'm sure he won't sound so much like Hansi for very long.

persuader's been around for about 4 years and he's ALWAYS sounded like hansi. hes not trying to do it for this band.

Between the similarities in their voices, and the fact that the drummer wrote vocal arrangements in BOTH bands, they can't help but sound the same. I like this stuff a lot more than the newest BG I've heard. Night at the Opera was great, but this is more like Imaginations and Nightfall, which are my favorite albums by far.

By the way, I think the group vocals and harmonies in this band sound BETTER than most of the BG stuff. There's some incredible parts in this song.

i think savage circus is playing progpower this year.

I actually just got the new Persuader album, and I think after his performance with Savage Circus, the singer is trying to sound even closer to Hansi than his previous records. Savage Circus is a lot better than Persuader, but if anyone deserves to sound like Blind Guardian, it's Savage Circus, since it's the former BG drummer. He left because he wasn't happy with the direction they were headed in.

Persuader sounds like Hansi imitating Worral Dane.

I just picked up the Savage Circus CD today. Awesome. You could burn this album, give it to a fan of Blind Guardian, and easily get away with telling them it's the new BG album.

Two major differences:

Pieet's guitar solos suck. The songs, riffs, and melodic parts are absolutely amazing, but his solos are ripped right out of 80's cock rock. He should just stick to melodic and harmony riffs like BG do, or work on his chops/writing.

The vocals are better. I swear to god. Not overall, Hansi has obviously had his moments of godliness..., however Jens singers lower, as high, and just plain stronger than Hansi does lately. Add to that there are some really well written vocals on here. The chorus and background vocals arent as soaring or layered as on BG albums, but there's still a whole shitload of em.

In general, I went into this thinking I was going to get a decent powermetal album from a band that sounds or tries to sound like Blind Guardian. Instead, I got the follow up to "Imaginations from the other side". I honestly think I know why BG delayed the release of the new album and put out that e.p. instead. They're about to get one-upped.

By the way, to elaborate on the vocals, Jens has a much larger dynamic range than Hansi does. He does cleans like Pain of Salvation, into Hansi like 20 man choruses. I'm very impressed with this guy.

this is really good and im a HUGE BG fan i liked the fly ep....the only thing i dont liek about this is why try to sound exactly like bg like the singer is even clearly trying to sing just like hansi its good but he shoulda went for somthing new or fresh....however this is exactly liek the stuf fi loved most from bg...i will def pick up this cd

I was away from a computer with sound for a few days, this is some pretty sweet power metal.
