so i recently purchased myself a yobo to play my old nintendo games. only problem is that when i went to the basement to find my box of games ALL of the good ones were missing due to a yard sale my family had a few years back. ive ordered a bunch on ebay - contra 1 and 2, mike tyson punch out, excitebike, tmnt, megaman 3, super dodgeball, and a crap load more. ive been reading reviews and top 25 lists. so i think i have a good grasp on the good games that i missed out on as a kid including battletoads and river city ransom.

i was just wondering if anyone knows of any unknown gems that would be worth picking up?

Whomp 'Em (Kind of like if Mega Man was an Indian with a spear.)
Bionic Commando (A platformer without jumping. You have a bionic arm that you grab onto ceilings and stuff with and swing from place to place.And the Japanese version has an exploding Hitler.)
Kickle Cubicle (Fun little puzzle game, you kick around blocks of ice. Can't explain it clearer than that.)
Both G.I. Joe games (Especially the Atlantis Factor.)
Gargoyle's Quest 2 (Trust me on this one. This game destroys on all kinds of levels. Looks kind of RPG-ish, but it isn't.)
Shatterhand (Awesome beat-em-up. You get a robot helper that can do all sorts of different attacks, depending on what combination of powerups you get.)
Metal Storm (Actiony game with gravity flipping. It's badass.)
Wrecking Crew (Fun, kinda simple game. You smash things.)

I could go on and on and on and on and on and on...

And what are the ones you have left after that yard sale? Just out of curiosity to see if there's any I don't have yet.

kid at work has bionic commando. hes selling me all of his old games that i want. ill make sure to pick that up from him. I already have wrecking crew that game is pretty damn fun. ive read good things about the gi joe games. ill definitely make sure to check em all out.

As far as the games that i have, its a box of about 20-30 games. i know for a fact that theres simons quest, faxanadu, trojan, DEADLY TOWERS! (which is officially the worst nintendo game ever on abotu 10 different sites hahaha) and a bunch more. when i get home from work, ill list em all out on here. i was planning on selling the ones that i dont want in a lot on ebay anyways.

is boy and his blog really good? there was this online aquateen hunger force game that has carl walkin around and you are meatwad and you have to change into certain things to get carl through the level. the descriptions of this game kinda remind me of that. and that game was pretty fun.

i ordered the regular tecmo bowl. it was like 10 bucks cheaper than super and sometimes the simpler the better when it comes to the 8 bit games.

Fuck, how could I not mention Crystalis or Low G Man? I fail.

ive heard a lot of things about crystalis and lolo but im not much into the rpg thing. what are the lolo games like?

oooooh lolo is a puzzle game. i might be into that.

+1 on Super Dodgeball. Bionic Commando is absolutely essential, and the endboss is freakin' hilarious. G.I. Joe, both of'em - awesome. Gargoyle's Quest is great. Shatterhand - I forgot what that was called for the longest time. Fun game. Crystalis is a must - it's barely an RPG, almost like a more action-oriented(as opposed to puzzle-oriented) Zelda. Castlevania II has unprecedented depth for an NES game (especially an early one), and the soundtrack is out-of-control good to boot. Metal Storm is cool for a few, but the gravity gimmick gets old after a while (for me).


One I haven't seen mentioned is Batman - really good (and hard) platformer.

And, yeah, Hydlide is the worst RPG ever. EVER. I also really hated Boy and his Blob, but some folks swear by it.

There's one that came out around late in the NES's lifetime where you're a dude who has SUPER ADVANCED XTREEM BOOMERANGS, but it's actually pretty sweet. Can't remember the name.

Believe it or not? McKids is a great game. Very Mario-ish, but with cool differences. And it's just trippy as hell - downright disturbing at times.

KIRBY. You need Kirby's Adventure. This game rules. Funnest thing ever.
