I've been looking at Sansamps lately, and just wanna know if any of you have played the following:

Sansamp RBI
Sansamp RPM
Sansamp PSA-1

And if so, which one did you like better? I just got money back from my insurance company for the last accident, and have $800 left over after paying off my truck. Gonna get me some new shit.

I'll try that I guess.

I basically have enough money for a used Sansamp and a decent used power amp, or for a used SVT-4PRO. I'm still debating.

Nice. I use an SVT-3 and I know I like it. That is definitely possible.

I've used the Sansamp Bass Driver DI to some effect - it does what it does, has a decent range of tones. Haven't used any of the ones you list, unfortunately, but they do have a good reputation for bass preamps.

Danny Lilker uses a Sansamp GT2 (the guitar amp modeler) for his bass distortion, FWIW.

yeah i contemplated buying the svt-3 because theyre alot cheaper, and i practice jew-day-ism, but the svt 4 has so many more possibilities for tone and output. if you already use an svt 3 you wont be let down

the svt-3 is essentially a tube version of a b2r, which i currently use. Not a whole lot of options on it, but it's got a great tone. Although, i love the svt-4's tone, if you're going to upgrade amps, id grab that

the psa-1 is great. you can get amazing bass tones as well as guitar tones. Jim from the auburn system uses one on his guitar rig and it sounds phenominal. it probably has more versatility than the rbi or the rpm as it has 49 user presets whereas the rpm and rbi only have one if i recall correctly

never been a huge fan of ampeg heads. too much hum and buzz when they get cranked. but thats just me, everyone else seems to love em.

guessing on what your price range is i would look into getting a used acoustic head if i were you.

Only problem with the PSA is it costs about double the RBI and RPM does.

I figured now I'm just gonna get an SVT-4, and when I get some more money again if I still feel like it I'll try running one of the sansamps through the SVT's power amp. I'm still debating what I like better, a warm tube sound or a clear, piano-like solid state sound, maybe with a little bit of overdrive on either. I'll figure it out eventually though.

dude, ebay.

psa / rbi = more tone shaping than you know what to do with.

I am all in for the RBI. What an amaing unit that thing is. You can get pretty much ANY sound you can think of. Any usable sound that is.
