I like how they can play one handed. such skillful riffs. Oh and the dudes with glow sticks in the moshpit. Man I love real metal. Nothing gets me so hard for other men's asses as KSE.

I don't understand why people hate this band.

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at May 10,2009 11:54am
Because they've turned into a band for 14 year old girls.

toggletoggle post by metalguy at May 10,2009 12:25pm
I don't know if that is the reason. People on this board have been hating them since Jesse was still in the band.

I can agree on some extent to what you are saying there. I just feel like there are worse bands being way more gay than Killswitch Engage.

These guys are just plain amazing. The only people who are outspoken about hating them are the true scenesters and those who don't recognize true musicianship. These dudes have never sold-out / gone gay. The mallcore crowd picked them up as fast as they could, but that does by no means make the band gay.

i dig ABR because of their musicianship. pretty much the only reason why i own both their cds. also the only metalcore band i listen to.

I'll always like their first 2 albums. I think after Howard joined the band, they became really mainstream and emo.

seeing them with slayer

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at May 10,2009 11:37pm
i remember i had to sit through a KSE set because they were on the same show as Cryptopsy and Suffo i think it was. They were trying to be as BR))TAL as possible by talking about their boogers and how they ate pizza and it made them fart. It came across as them really trying hard to reach the audience and completely failing.

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at May 10,2009 11:42pm
that moron with the faux hawk and the stupid ass cutoff shorts pisses me off so much. come to think of it i think it was that loser who was telling the stories about his brutal boogers trying to be "metal". Fuck this band.

toggletoggle post by metalguy at May 10,2009 11:51pm
they made jokes. instead of growling in between songs. sense of humor?!

last time i checked they weren't stand up comics. so what the hell is the big deal if they make lame jokes?

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at May 11,2009 12:26am
i never said jokes. he was trying to talk about boogers and diarrhea in a lame attempt to be dark and brutal. The same way as a kid who walks out of a hot topic carrying their job for a cowboy cd with their eyeliner and extra baggy pants might say "this is sick yo, i'm gonna go listen to my new cd while i comb my hair and organize my arm bands, brutal huh?"

it's fucking pathetic and lame

I don't condemn anyone that hates them. I just happen to dig the shit out of the guitar work, particularly how awesome their use of pinch harmonics sounds. They never seem to miss a pinch. We used a ton of pinch harms in HCN and I used to miss them here and there...that sucked. I also dig Howards voice, he's talented as hell with his cleans.

gonna see Slayer and I don't appreciate this Killswitch is Gay band at all. Every "fan" they have is a little teen. My nephew loves them and he is 14 and brags about Guitar Hero and thinks they are the contenders of heavy metal (he doesn't even know a Slayer song).

I find them annoying and for me do not consider them metal. Maybe I am a traditionalist or elitist, so be it but this band really bothers me. From the antics on stage to their fanbase to the actual music. It does not appeal to me. It seems to appeal to non-metal fans, granted this world is about money so...

I plan on skipping them on Mayhem, i just wish they weren't playing before Slayer.

I like the term a lot of people are using, "Killswitch is Gay", sorry this stuff in my opinion is nothing more than radio friendly pop rock $$$ making junk...

never really got into this band.

Joe Bosso of MusicRadar.com recently conducted an interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King. During the chat, which is available for streaming and/or download at this location, King discusses the making of the band's new album, "World Painted Blood"; his B.C. Rich signature series guitars; and he even answers some of the readers' questions.

When asked about the reports that SLAYER once threw KILLSWITCH ENGAGE off one of its tours, King said "We actually didn't get able to. I tried. Because I'd never seen 'em live, and then I saw them live at some, I don't know, maybe at Kerrang! Awards over in Europe. And I'm just offended by the silliness that goes on on stage [on the part of] the guitar player [Adam Dutkiewicz]. He puts his foot in his mouth all the time and he says stupid shit, and I just didn't think that side show should be on my stage. So I pulled the plug on the spot, but on that particular Jägermeister tour, we didn't have any product and they did, so Jäger kind of insisted, and I went... They're all friends of mine, so I said, 'OK, I'll deal with it.' Still don't like it."

In the February 2008 issue of Sweden's Close-Up magazine, SOULFLY/ex-SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera described the experience of seeing a KILLSWITCH ENGAGE live show. "I went to see LAMB OF GOD in that States and they were alright, but KILLSWITCH ENGAGE opened and it was the gayest show I've ever seen," he said. "I was like, I'm not part of this scene, it's fucking gay.' They were acting like they were U2 and I was like, 'Hmm….' The attitude was so ridiculous. I don't know these guys, they're on my label [Roadrunner] and all, but it was completely disappointing and gay. Like really lame, such a lame band live, everything about the whole attitude. LAMB OF GOD came out and destroyed them and I don't even like LAMB OF GOD that much, but they were so much better coming after KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. I was like, 'If that's what the scene is about, hey fuck it, it ain't got nothing to do with me.'"

SLAYER has just made another track from its upcoming album, "World Painted Blood", available for streaming at Shockhound.com. The limited-edition single, a Kerry King composition, is titled "Hate Worldwide", and is available exclusively as a CD-single at Hot Topic stores beginning today (Tuesday, July 28).

"It's a really cool track, and Tom's [Araya] voice sounds incredible on it," said King. "The last line in the song's chorus is '..spread a little hate worldwide,' and that's what we've been doing for 25 years."

"World Painted Blood" was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. The CD was produced by Greg Fidelman, who's spent time in the studio with METALLICA, THE GOSSIP, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY, SLIPKNOT and others, and executive-produced by longtime SLAYER colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.

SLAYER — bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo — is currently co-headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with MARILYN MANSON, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, among other

Talentless hacks.

Seeing the singer reminded me of why I hated seeing BHBS live. No fucking energy cocky douche bag.

How do bands like this get so fucking successful. Really kind of pisses me off. I do sound for 100 bands/year that play the same type of shit, and the fashion models dorks at the shows all go sick for every one of them.

And in defense of Max and Kerry, they've paid their dues. Even their worst material is 1,000,000,000x better than anything Adam Doucheowitz or whateverthefuck his name is, has written.

Meh...that's cool. I just call it as I see it. If the music is great, who gives a shit about the "scene" that they are a part of, or whether or not Kerry King likes them?? Seriously, if I like the music, I loudly attest that I dig it. I could care less about what is "popular." Which is quite apparent as you all know. I'm the farthest thing from popular on this board, from my musical tastes to my political tastes, at least I'm honest, and not a bandwagonite like many people on this board...

BHBS in myh opinion is better. I still like Killswitch but I've had my share of seeing them. I don't go to their shows anymore cuz I've seen them too many times and their shows are ALWAYS the same. And the last two records (just bought the new one and the production is top notch with a little help from Brendon O'Brian) are just "eh" to me. Also the Holy Diver cover is horrible

Killswitch IS GAY. The music is more for people who didn't grow up on metal. i know a few guys at work who LOVE kse. and you know what? they do not know the first thing about metal. they are just guys who think its cool to listen to something "heavy" then they brag about it. its annoying because they act like they know so much about metal, etc... i will be at Mayhem but not for KSE. there are a ton of other bands on Mayhem that blow away KSE. and that guitarist really is obnoxious. i guess maybe its a comedy act to them but what i see is an immature adult feeding off all the attention making a fool of himself.

it is interesting to note each band member's past bands... so i do not know what happened. and holy diver vid is a mockery of the original, pisses me off.

No mean in calling you out on this one, but by that notion, that cancels out what you said about your Agalloch friend having more of an "educated" opinion on what's good music and what's not, as you directed at Yeti last week. So you don't care what Kerry King hates, but care about what Agalloch likes? Confusing, man!

Yeti, you love men, so shut it.

Arillius...no comprendo aqui. If music is good, then it's good. But there is a geek side to it...kind of like Yeti, who most likely got beaten up and had his lunch money stolen on a daily basis because he's such a wuss...However, Yeti's opinions don't matter because he's barely old enough to get a boner, and he can't vote yet. He's still popping zits for God's sake. When the kid grows up and gets facial hair and starts paying taxes, his opinion will matter. Until then, he's just a douchebag kid with a lot of pent up internet testosterone.

But I'm serious when I say that they [sic] can play their asses off. Arillius, you and I should have a beer together.

Yeti, would you mind going to the fridge and getting Arillius and I a beer? AND, yes you can have a Sprite...
