I turned on a stove a couple days ago when it was 48 inside. I really want to turn on the heat in the bathroom, but I have to seal up things first. Taking a shower in a 51 degree bathroom is just about the worst thing ever.

This past week though it's been cold in my house for a while. I think we have an air leak or some missing insulation. Or the windows are too thin.

Either way, ya, taking a hot shower and then stepping out into cold-as-fuck air sucks. What I do now to make it suck less is turn the shower to cold and get shot with cold-as-fuck water before stepping out.

heat is included in my rent, and my landlord CRANKS it. i had my windows open yesterday.

i closed the cat's outside door and put the door to the cold room back on its hinges so my house was a toasty 52 this morning.

that was one thing i searched hard for. in December of 2008 at my old apartment we racked up a 600 dollar heat bill, and never once was there a moment where i didn't see my breath in my house. after that we just shut it off and froze. it was awful.
