I first heard of roky back when entombed covered night of the vampire. I thought it was a danzig cover and when I went looking for the original, I found roky and was blown away by his music and life.

Hail the satanic rock. 13th floor elevators are good as well. Anyone seen the documentary about him? Its kind of sad how he is now.
Anyone seen the documentary about him? Its kind of sad how he is now.
that documentary is a couple of years old, his brother straightened his shit out and he does a few short tours a year now, lives back in texas by himself and can drive and shit
his brother got him better medical treatment and helped him get back on his feet. i heard something about him doing an album with billy gibbons sometime soon. that would be awesome.
sometime in the next year i'm going to record some solo covers with various friends laying down the instruments of mostly nonmetal songs that i enjoy. i'm definitely doing "it's a cold night for alligators" by roky and "excitable boy" by warren zevon. the rest of the list still needs to be hashed out, but i have a lot of ideas. i'm just most excited about the two songs i mentioned.
an episode of austin city limits with roky was on last night. he had billy gibbons onstage with him. i fell asleep at the beginning of the episode when kings of leon were on and woke up in time to catch roky.

fucking bow to the throne of Roky!
his song "anthem" is amazing.
he has a new album out today with okkerkill river and it's wonderful. been jamming it for the last week.
