These are on demand right now. wondering which one I should order. The Hangover looks funny on the trailers and shit, but several people told me it sucks ass. Which movie should I get? I have not really heard anything one way or the other about reviews and crap for District 9. Looks good though. What should I order? Thanks........

people who say the hangover sucks either have suspect taste or a severe case of "I hate everything that other people like"

toggletoggle post by gslice at Jan 4,2010 4:29pm
also, I dug district 9, you've got a conundrum

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jan 4,2010 4:32pm
The Hangover rules, fuck the people who don't like it.

i wouldnt want to hangout with the kind of person who doesnt find the hangover to be at least remotely hilarious. i mean theres definitely funnier movies out there i think but ... funny is funny.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Jan 4,2010 5:00pm edited Jan 4,2010 5:01pm
hangover really wasn't as funny as everyone made it out to be. district 9 is a really, really good sci fi opera. no its not literally an opera /facepalm. it goes way further than humans, aliens and guns.

aril doesn't know what hes talking about.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 4,2010 8:08pm
If you want my honest opinion, both movies are good flicks.
However, d9's underlying political theme, numerous plotholes, and videogamish story line make it a piece of shit wannabe scifi flick.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Jan 4,2010 8:54pm
i like its political theme. i enjoy how it goes deeper than just a run and gun sci fi movie. you may hate political themes in movies aril but its something that has been in film since film began and will continue to be in films for the foreseeable future.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 4,2010 9:13pm
I don't hate political themes. But when used in movies like that, yes. Relevant political sci fi movies would be 1984 or a Brave New World.

toggletoggle post by gslice at Jan 4,2010 9:21pm
lame predictable political films are lame, but I choose to look beyond that, or rather in front of it, at the shiny gore and mayhem filled aspects of a bitchin mockumentary about some dick and some aliums

I liked district 9. I shut the hangover off after 40 minutes. Same old shit. Baby getting hit in the head with the car door made me chuckle though.

Well, ordered The Hangover last night. The movie sucked bad. Checking out D9 tonight. I hope I go 1-1 at least.

toggletoggle post by C.dEaD at Jan 6,2010 5:39pm
Have yet to see D9, but I thought the hangover was okay. More or less because of Zack Galifinakis or whatever. That guy is the shit. I also watched it while I was in Vegas, drunk and stoned on the bed.

true but most films(at least the good ones) cover up whatever political themes they have in a good way. D9 is more about humanity and the ugliness we can show ourselves and others than political nonsense.

I thought both films were enjoyable yet nothing ground breaking or amazing.
