If its sticks to its 2d roots I will absolutley support this other wise it will be a dissapointment

2d all the way. That's how sonic was meant to be.

Releasing as a download is the way to go

Definitely interested in this as as a XBL Arcade game, glad they realized no one would buy it from a disk.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 8,2010 3:17pm
I'd buy it.

I liked genesis better then snes, was def more into sonic at the time..and nba jam

Yes, they're making a second one.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 8,2010 3:40pm edited Feb 8,2010 3:41pm
Sega had its up and downs, like SNES. I have to say I liked genesis' game selection better than snes' selection. But SNES had way better RPGs outside of Phantasy Star and Shining Force.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Feb 8,2010 4:22pm
looks like it'll be a sidescroller in the trailer....so yea, this should be pretty awesome

i play Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles on a weekly basis. that "Sonic Mega Collection" for PS2 is the best game i own.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 8:02am
No sonic 1?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 8:14am
Don't tell me you don't like sonic 1 because you can't do a spinball

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Feb 9,2010 8:20am
sonic 1 and 2 are both fantastic games. I remember sonic 2 becoming hard near the end.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Feb 9,2010 8:25am
no i like all Sonic, but 1 is my least favorite.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Feb 9,2010 8:25am
Sonic 2 does get difficult, FUCK METROPOLIS ZONE.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 8:39am
? That's easy.
I used to hate Oil Ocean. Death Egg was easy as shit too. My least favorite was the Hilltop Zone

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Feb 9,2010 8:52am
this looks awesome

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 8:54am
Are they going to port it to another system? (preferably steam)

toggletoggle post by martins   at Feb 9,2010 9:34am
Almost definitely not to Steam lol
Or PC at all, really.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Feb 9,2010 9:36am
i doubt it aril. its probably just going to stay as an XBL downloadable.

toggletoggle post by martins   at Feb 9,2010 9:40am
It will probably go to PS3 eventually. Sega is multiplatform now.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Feb 9,2010 9:47am
true but thats about as far as its going to go. 99% sure it will just stay on consoles.

toggletoggle post by martins   at Feb 9,2010 9:55am
200% aril will never play it

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 9:58am
I will play it. There's an xbox 360 10 feet away from me. I'm playing borderlands right now.

I'm just pissed that they wouldn't port it to gameboy or PSP or Steam.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Feb 9,2010 9:59am
borderlands is such a fun game. i really like how its like fallout 3 but with more emphesis on the FPS gameplay instead of the RPG elements.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 9:59am
Maybe I'll start a petition to have it ported to pc because modern consoles suck cock.

They ain't consoles! Stop calling them consoles!

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at Feb 9,2010 12:27pm
SNES haters. Genesis was the inferior console. had less major 3rd party support, every game that was on both SNES and Genesis was always shittier on Genesis (MK1 was BETTER as a game on SNES, it just didn't have blood, big whoop), and they had less MUST HAVE exclusives. not to mention less must have 1st party games... SNES shit stomped Genesis.

toggletoggle post by Doomkid   at Feb 9,2010 12:37pm
Mortal Kombat with the ABC-XYZ Genesis controller > SNES

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 9,2010 12:52pm

Sonic and Knuckles? You were a toodler when that came out. Probably playing with buzz lightyear stuffed animals and in power ranger pajamas.

toggletoggle post by martins   at Feb 9,2010 2:01pm
I had Power Ranger bed sheets at some point. I'm in 5th grade now though so that's embarrassing.

That's okay. I was collecting xmen cards and playing with POGs back in 1993.

XMEN CARDS haha. I got stabbed in the jugular over a holographic Charizard once. Died.

No dice. Currently rockin this on the DS GBA slot:

And this on the DS:

toggletoggle post by Slag at Feb 10,2010 9:19am
Sweet DS-10. For the uninitiated,

http://www.vintagesynth.com/korg/ms10.php

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 9:22am
IT's actually really cool and versatile. Needs to be distorted or modulated if you actually want to record with it and have it sound half way decent. I will do something with it eventually. The only thing I hate is the lack of drum sounds.

toggletoggle post by Slag at Feb 10,2010 9:28am
I had no idea they were doing synth stuff for the DS. Synth software is all over the IPhone.... I need one.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 9:30am
They're actually updating the above mentioned version and it should be out real soon. I would hold out for that one as it has improved sound and 2 more synths on top of the 4 it already has. It also has some other shit I can't recall.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 10,2010 9:32am
Meh. I'll stick to keys.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 9:34am
I see it more as a novelty/toy that you can experiment with and maybe come up with some ideas.....and it's a fucking synth program for the DS!

Agreed, stuff like this cannot replace a sequencing program or a real synth... but it would pretty fucking sweet to have to come up with ideas on the go.

Exactly. Emulators like these are just fucking fun.

Yea I suppose that'd be cool.
I usually just come up with ideas in my head. Which reminds me, I gotta finish recording the khand shit asap .. Dammit!

no, it is true. its more arcade accurate than the Genesis one. look it up.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 10,2010 12:31pm
so a game that's more closely tied to the arcade version is better? Golden axe II was better on genesis than in the arcade.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 12:37pm
Double Dragon 3 wasn't, but it was pretty good on the Genesis.

I have both MKII on SNES and on an arcade collection and I think the SNES version is way better. Tru dat on the MK SNES version being much better as far graphics, control and accuracy.

Depending on your music styles, apps may differ. I've read these are awesome.

Try "thump", "drone station" "plinkton" and if you know anything about synthesis, "Noise.io" rules.

toggletoggle post by Slag at Feb 10,2010 12:39pm
and RIVER CITY RANSOM FTW over all other beat 'em ups.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 10,2010 12:45pm
I'm gonna have to agree to disagree. Outside of street fighter, Genesis had way better fighting games.
Genesis was better for action, sports, and more fast-paced genres. SNES had better RPGs (by far), strategy games, etc. This is all fact. Not opinion

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 12:50pm
I have River City for the GBA. Game is pretty hard. I think my favorite beat em up (if you consider it one)........

And Jimmyarillius, don't even try to say the Genesis version was better!

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 10,2010 1:19pm
hahahahah what.

Best beat em up was d&d for arcade
but NES paved the way for the genre. POW, RIver City Ransom, Battletoads... Come on man.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 2:09pm
KNights of the Round Table and AVP (Capcom version) are also notable. Oh, I just beat Burning Fight and that was pretty rad. My next beat em up to play is Sengoku.

POW is probably the best. Ahh, so many good ones. Renegade and Double Dragon (arcade and NES) is the best. Bahhhh.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 10,2010 2:12pm
I was always a sidescroller dude. Still am. It's pretty much dead. That's why it's good that this sonic game went back to its roots.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 2:13pm
For recent side-scrollers you should really check out Shadow Complex. It's very metroidvania.

toggletoggle post by martins   at Feb 10,2010 2:14pm
Or that other side scroller fighter RPG thing with the cartoon graphics. Can't think of the name right now.

toggletoggle post by c.DeAD at Feb 10,2010 2:17pm
Also, Alien Breed just got remade and it's very faithful. Looks amazing and is fun as hell.

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at Feb 11,2010 2:08pm
if you want newer 2d style side-scroller or tactics rpg games look no further than any of the Nippon Ichi Software or a few of the games put out by Atlus. it's a weeaboo's wet dream and a 2D fan's New Testament.

the SNES could do fast paced games very well. Sparkster? Uniracers?

P.S. http://screwattack.com/blogs/Mortal-Monday.../Mortal-Monday-MK-1-SNES-vs-Genesis

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 11,2010 2:14pm
Sparkster, as the shitty sequel to Rocket Knight Adventures, one of the best side scrollers of all time for Sega?

Also, musically, SNES' soundchip could not replicate certain sounds that genesis made. Vectorman Is a prime example.

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at Feb 11,2010 2:18pm
Sparkster for SNES was awesome and fast. it actually won an award from some magazine for best sound effects that year. SNES' soundchip is better overall but could not replicate some sounds that the Genesis could. although why would the SNES want to? it had better sounds and music. Vectorman was Genesis only anyways, although it's a fantastic game.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 11,2010 2:34pm
Agreed, but I'd argue sega's sound chip was more versatile and solely based off sine waves. I loved both systems, but stand by my opinion that sega had a much better game selection when it came to side scrollers and sports games. NBA jam? Waaaay better on genesis.
