I saw that stat on the news this morning about only having a 23% approval rating for this accross the country... it proves that 77% of our country are either rich(very, very few) or really dumb. (most) Sorry, i know a LOT of people disagree with me cause they don't want "the government" to make all the health decisions for them... because they prefer FOR PROFIT INSURANCE COMPANIES to make their decisions for them. As with any stance, there's pros and cons. We are the only industrialized western country that didn't have universal healthcare. But we also have more than 300,000,000 people living in this country.
I wouldn't call people that oppose this "dumb" ; that's buying into the false rhetoric that the media pumps into us. The stances on this bill, both for and against, just show the growing divide in the false left/right paradigm. It is destroying this country.

Special interests run this country.

right Jim. I doubt that 23% is correct, sounds like a made up statistic, although most of this country is stupid or rich or both.

The bill will take effect in 2016. MA already has mandatory healthcare so it won't affect MA people. But for those who want it, the Fed will setup cheap insurance exchanges where you won't be denied coverage. The government doesn't make any healthcare decisions. It just prevents healthcare/insurance corporations from denying coverage. (See Medicare - the only reason it was passed was so that insurance companies would not have to provide coverage to the elderly, their biggest customers)

I won't go into a huge rant about how much of a victory this is. Not only does it strengthen the middle class (the key to a sustainable civilization) but it kills the healthcare/insurance/government triad that has always existed and only benefits the super rich.

Anybody clueless about it that cares to know should check out these -

Then this is a blow to special interests. The right/left paradigm is false. I have opinions on both sides.

Example: Jew Leiberman, the "independent" from CT, opposed the bill because he receives heaps of money from all the insurance and pharma companies in CT.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/18/c...-score-on-health-care_n_502543.html

Comprehensive health care reform will cost the federal government $940 billion over a ten-year period, but will increase revenue and cut other costs by a greater amount, leading to a reduction of $138 billion in the federal deficit over the same period, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, a Democratic source tells HuffPost. It will cut the deficit by $1.2 trillion over the second ten year period.

Anyone that thinks this is a good idea is a fucking retard. legit. it has nothing to do with "socialism" or "more government control over us" or about "providing for people who need health care" etc...This country is GOING FUCKING BANKRUPT and our deficit is off the charts in terms of record highs. HOW THE FUCK ARE WE GOING TO AFFORD THIS? Really. Free healthcare for all is GREAT...on PAPER - just like communism. Maybe when we had a budget surplus and weren't in the middle of a recession/depression fall back it would work, but right now? are you fucking kidding me? All it is now is a POLITICAL ISSUE - just like abortion and global warming. Health care became the litmus test to be a liberal...and don't assume I choke on Republican talking points like liberals do on dick, I have no party anymore. No one representts "the people" - they're all scum bags. all this health care debate and process into what it is now just proved is that our government is incompentent and broken...it can't accomplish shit because everyone has too much pride to compromise across the hall.

I, the most glorious and humble RTTP news analyst, declare this an affront to the constitution.

find me the part that says "whitey must pay for blackey's healthcare nuggah"

this is a tax on the middle class for the benefit of the poor.

In truth this is just a survival tactic for the dems, as all those poor, uninsured, undereducated folk probably will now vote for their "savior"

And I hope you all realize this doesn't mean everyone gets cheap healthcare...it means everyone is forced to buy health insurance so those with pre-existing conditions can get healthcare without rates rising too high

I laugh though because MA was the model for this and their rates are projected to rise anywhere from 15-30 percent this year.

again, where in the constitution does the government have the power to force people to buy a service?

if you can find that part in the constitution, in plain writing don't give me any of that implied powers bullshit.

One way to know our healthcare system is fucking bullshit is when a patient is paying $40 for a $5 ace bandage at the ER. Insurance companies need a huge wake up call.

Who gives a crap about how much the country is in debt, we're all in debt, fuck it. Maybe if we stop spending so much money on the military and keeping thousands of soldiers in places there is no conflict... i.e. Germany, Japan, ect.

Dude, I've been with my unit for awhile now and I'm deploying to El Salvador in May. I support the military wherever they are and I don't care where it is. Who gives a shit? How is that affecting your pathetic life?

Retarded. We citizens get to weigh in on where the USG is sending soldiers because WE HAVE TO FUCKING PAY FOR IT. Support the troops doesn't have shit to do with blindly oking the things they're ordered to do. Get perspective, plz.

well, austraila is a murdochracy, google it. The whole nation has one media source and has politicians attached to Murdoch

Canada is socialist and boasts a population of like what, 5 people? so obviously they are doing awesome.

we're still number one baby, the world still runs on the dollar.

but yes, we have fatasses like crazy compared to other places.

I remember visiting Beaulac, Quebec and not seeing a single fatty...and they eat the most calorific foods you can imagine. French Paradox?

Already did. You didn't see them unveil the new currency last year?
If not, I don't blame you. The news doesn't cover it.
