drones are great for bombing because they don't require any human element. I can imagine they would be out-maneuvered or at least out-witted in an aerial interception role.
if we continue down the path we're going, we won't even need humans to fight our wars. it will just be drones, fighter drones, robotics, or enhanced humans through technology.
fuck it, this is what it should be like:

based on what your saying about drones, wouldn't it be more like this?
yes, however cloning technology should be mastered by the govt by now. Remember, they're supposedly 25 years ahead of us in technology.
but yea, drones, robotics, nano technology are just going to reshape the military.
were just going to be playing video games behind a computer but it's not a game
Were both 50% wrong. 10 years you say? lest you forget, the b2 was being developed in the late 70s and early 80s. It wasn't used until about 10 years ago.
Additionally, there is zero official proof that theyre neither 10 or 25. Most people estimate 15-20. Internet is an example.
Who knows what R&D has now. We have so many top secret bases out west that have all sorts of things being developed. rumor has it they already figure out cloaking..

I don't see a clone army happening any time soon. Unless the laws change or it is being done independently in secret. Even then, a cloned human still has to develop from childhood to adulthood. This is where the technology would need to be developed further. Accelerate the growth and limit the lifespan as a failsafe. Cloning is already being done everyday, it's just usually something less sci-fi like e coli being cloned.
yea. I'd say give or take 100 years. But we mist surpass ethical opposition to the concept. I had an awesome idea one day about cloning Neanderthals and breeding them for military purposes. they'd make perfect grunts.
except for them dying from extinction again and not being able to keep up with homo sapiens.
DARPA's computing and super computing is 10 years ahead of us.
This might have been 15-25 years in the past, but computing technology generations are shrinking. Plus, the government is now partnering more with private companies that want to make money off the investments they made.
ah, I was more or less referring to military R&D over computing technologies. Most secret program. (that we know about) are usually in development for 20ish years before we know about them. Then again, not sure how the economy is affecting our R&D. We still give most of our tax money to it so they better have something cool. Laser Guns and Light Sabers plz.

We don't use the latest and greatest technology when we can still get away with flying F-16's and A-10's still. We don't have a superior threat we need to match or exceed yet.
The F-22 JSF and F-35 have been in development for as long as I can remember but are still not in use. Although Israel just placed an order for some F-35's. Obama killed off the F-22 which is a shame as many believed it to be the superior fighter.
We try to get the longest lifespan possible out of our technology before retiring it. Case in point...the space shuttle.
Yep. It's funny how all these other countries are flying our old F16s. Nothing wrong with the F16 but of it really came down to it, we could destroy one easily. Obama did kill the F22- forgot about that. Russia has some good jets now..

I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they decided to kill this plane.
the F-35 will be better than the F-22 cause it's modular in design. Like lexus v toyota.
And aril, you are confusing things here. Just cause something is under-development doesn't mean that it's here. If that were the case, RTTP v4.0 is already here in all it's web2.0 and html5 goodness cause I started developing it.
Also, military R&D is all about computing technology.

My understanding was it all came down to cost and the F-22 was just too expensive. Personally I think there is plenty of room for both planes in our arsenal.
not all r&d is. Granted computing technologies are the bread and butter of r&d, but we've had advances in weapon technology and other forms of technology that aren't directly correlated to computer processing.
You just want the govt to be 10 years ahead.. When we don't even really know.
Yeah but opening ceremonies don't start until 10am. Golden Knights start at 10:15am to the national anthem. That's how the national anthem should be done... to crazy Army dudes jumping out of planes.
ok, im parking agross the main street from carinas house, watching and snapping the blue angels, then racing across the street and rushing down back roads to haverhill. Hope this works...
I got here late and missed half the show. Oh well, didn't pay for parking or admission. Got some movies/pics. Some dude was freaking out because he lost his daughter. Cool story, bro
Started leaving about 2pm. On our way out at 2:30pm the F-15 Eagle was doing its demonstration. Shame, looked like the best out of the 3. (Saw the F-16 Fighting Falcon earlier in the day and the F-18 SuperHornet around noon). They didn't stick to the schedule at all today and didn't hand out an updated schedule to the public. There were no big planes at all. Besides the fighter jet demos the rest of the day was filled with some aerobatics and smoke stuff which I'd say only about 30 minutes worth combined was interesting. The Golden Knights were not as snazzy as I anticipated. The sun beat the shit out of us so we decided to leave and skip the Blue Angels which I'm guessing was the only cool thing left. Waiting 4 hours to leave the base at 5pm in traffic would not have been so cool.
Anyway.. I spent a total of 4 hours in the sun, reapplied SPF 85 3 separate times and still look like someone threw red paint on me. Damn my euromut skin.
All in all it was a good time though. Seeing the fighter planes in action was awesome. Some of the static displays were cool. A-10's, B-52, and some other stuff. My dad chatted up the crew chiefs for the Blackhawk and Huey helicopters since he did all that shit in 'nam.

The only thing they're missing is stealth planes. I want to see an f-22 or f-35 so bad.
I saw a f-22 demo at an airshow in RI last year. Oh my god, that thing is crazy. It could turn and accelerate so fast. It was also the 50th anniversery of the Air Force, so at one point they had a WW II era P-51 Mustang, Vietnam era F-4 Phantom, F-16 Falcon and a F-22 Raptor flying in formation at the end of the show.
Damn. That sounds retarded. I almost went to an airshow on long island last year but decided it was too far. They had an f-22 and b-2. Stealth planes oh my.
going to this show and not staying for the blue angels is like paying for a hige-priced hooker to not wear a jimmy hat, but then you still pull out and blow it on her shoes. wtf!
I already saw the F-18 demo. I would have had first degree burns all over my body and would have had to wait 2 hours before I'd reach 95 upon exiting the base. I think I made the right choice.
Air show? Buzz-cut Alabamians spewing colored smoke from their whiz jets to the strains of "Rock You Like A Hurricane?" What kind of countrified rube is still impressed by that?
I was gonna say. It sounded familiar and certainly looked like a simpsons quote. Seasons 2-10 were the best.. I haven't seen many 6+ seasons recently. Only got seasons 1-3 on Dvd. =(. Need to get all of them
5, 6, 7, and 8 are untouchable and unmatched by any show ever.

no doubt.
then again, you'll have all the douchebags say family guy is better than (old) simpsons.
Fuck that shit, well-written and clever humor > random flashbacks with sexual and racial innuendos
