seeing this tonight and I'm fucking stoked. I watched Mickey Ward fight sometime in the 90's on Friday Night Fights and was glued to his local Irish charm. The Irish Thunder Triology is one of the most inspiring events you can ever watch. Fuck, I feel like a good cry.

Ward-Gatti isn't in this movie, which sucks but I'm still going to see it.

FUCKING AWESOME MOVIE. Pound for pound, one of the greatest casts I've ever seen in a movie. Fucking electric.
I was kinda bummed that they didn't show anything about Gatti yet they took several moments from Irish Thunder I and incorporated it within the Neary title fight. The fight scenes are great cause there's a nice gritty tone to the picture since it's basically the view from TV, shits real guy.
Take your Mom and Girlfriend to this, it's a boxing movie about family or maybe its a family movie about boxing, not sure yet. Chances are you know one of the sisters.

Saw this movie twice last week. Fucking great movie. I also wish they had gone over the fights with Gatti though, but whatever. Movie was awesome. Best acting I've ever seen Christian Bale do, and yes, better than Batman, Equilibrium, and The Machinist. He lost a ton of weight for it too.

I read this as The Felcher. WTF?

this movie ruled so hard. christian bale was a fucking maniac in this. his role redeemed him from the atrocities of T4 and Public Enemies. finally good use of boston accents. also amy adams was trashy as fuck and gave me a boner for most of the film. great story and great acting.

I just saw this last night. Christian Bale acted the fuck out of Mark Wahlberg

Backed.
Wahlberg was... Wahlberg. Amy Strong was bland and unconvincing. The guy who played O'Keefe overacted like a 12-year-old in a co-op play. The woman who played the mother deserved her Oscar.

Bale was fucking awesome and might have been the best I've ever seen him. Whenever he yelled at someone it was in his English accent.

I guess that's because he had never acted, and it was the real O'Keefe.

According to IMDB:

Mickey Ward's real life trainer Mickey O'Keefe was asked to appear as himself in the film, but turned the role down since he had never acted before. Mark Wahlberg told him he would be able to since he was a cop and therefore he has to act and think fast on his feet. This was convincing enough and he took the role.

The guy who played O'Keefe was the real O'Keefe. Kinda hard to over act when you're playing yourself.

Absolutely amazing movie. One of the best boxing films ever. If you watch the fight scenes & then watch the real fights on youtube, you'll see that they are identical! No dramatizing in the ring!! The HBO fights in the movie were filmed by the HBO Championship Boxing crew, in real time from start to finish. And there's no play fighting either, they're really throwing & taking punches, which made the fight scenes totally authentic. And most of the houses they filmed in were the actual houses.
