where'd you hear that from? lots of game sites make up their own dates and rumors are always everywhere. Todd Hollenshead keeps saying in lots of interviews that if you didn't hear it from Id, consider it to be false.
That is the right time frame though, they confirmed a summer release. But this is probably the 15th or more "official" confirmed release date i've heard. |

I hope the june 14 rumors I've been hearing are true. that'd be nice. But I suppose it would have already gone gold by now. |

yeah it looks sketchy. whenever anyone asks Id about release dates in interviews they always laugh and say if you didn't hear it from them, then assume it's false. I want this motherfucking game to come out already though. I think I might start building my computer when I see how good nv40 does with the r420 stuff. |

gamespot has been the biggest liar out of all of them. every other week they seem to post a new article saying a friend of a friend of a friend who works for activision and cleans john carmack's ferrari heard it was coming out in march of 2003.
But Id has officially said that it is a definate summer release. which would mean anywhere from tuesday till september 22 |

August 3rd rumor. if it's real i'd imagine id would confirm it within a few days in one of their .plan files.

okay, so we're just about there....
I want to get a copy the day of... walmart says aug 3rd, best buy says aug. 4th... I work at 8:30 so I'm gonna have to get someone to pick it up for me at store opening. I just need to figure out which day they are releasing it INSTORE. |

SO, I got doom 3 installed last night, I played about 30 minutes into the game, and man the graphics are sick, and when shit starts to go down it's pretty scary. Tons of ambient sounds, pounding, people yelling in other rooms... fucking can't wait to go home and play it more. |

oops, that was me on the anonymous post above.... all I have installed on this computer is windows, windows updates, drivers, and doom3. Finially got this thing going 2 days ago. (the motherboard was DOA so I had to RMA it) |

I would recommend playing with the ducttape mod (allows you to have flashlight and machine gun out at the same time) when you replay the game. it's cool actually seeing the guy you're shooting react to the shots and see his blood splat all over the walls behind him.
also... setting g_showplayershadow to 1 to make it so you cast shadows adds a ton to the game I think. I don't know why they shipped the game with that option off. Doesn't seem to impact framerates all that much. |

game is pretty awesome, not really that hard, but scary. I can't wait for the Total Conversion mods start coming out... I can't wait to see some realism games made on this engine. |
