Anyone who is living in reality could have seen this coming, now it's official.

Haha my buddy just asked if I had any obsidian tongue stuff on my iPod to show our friends. I replied by saying I had a cd in my car. Much ballyhoo ensued.

I knew it would happen but not this soon.

Ha ha I haven't even gotten around to transferring my audio tapes to CD yet, and now they want to get rid of CDs?

I masturbate to the death throes of the music industry.

Graveside Service saw this coming years ago and that's why they only offer their music through youtube.

Shit, I still buy CDs.

toggletoggle post by chrisREX at Nov 7,2011 11:29am
CDs are only relevant in my life when I am driving.

Looking forward to the massive clearance sales at Newbury Comics.

I wonder how long until the Bacon Taco Circle start releasing their reverb brain farts on this now archaic format.

I bet there was an article like this when CDs came out about vinyl...

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Nov 7,2011 11:52am
There definitely was. Everyone was claiming that physical digital was replacing tapes and vinyl. Now that digital is finding its proper distribution method, people who really give a shit about clarity and what lies beyond 192kbps are getting back to roots.

As underground metal label Relapse Records founder Matt Jacobson told me, "CDs have gone to the big grab bag in the sky."

This will probably be a blessing in disguise for any type of music with as big a diy market as metal.

I'm personally hoping this causes CD fulfilment companies to drastically reduce their prices. This means big things for local music. Imagine a world where more money is spent on production then pressing a bunch of retarded 70 fold digipacks that come with a free red butter knife and finger nail clippings..

I haven't bought a cd in years. So this is no big deal to me.

BUT.....

I did transfer all of my cd's to my laptop. The other day using my laptop for the first time in a week, EVERY song is skipping and I have no clue why. Might be some sort of issue with the hard drive. So digital music sucks too it's just more easily transferable. Also mp3's sound like shit and wave forms take up too much memory. Granted buying 1 hard drive for 100 cd's is way cheaper than actually buying 100 cd's. I'm rambling about shit you already know. Fuck technology, I want my rotary dial phone back.

doubtful that your hard drive would cause skipping. More likely your processor is getting slammed trying to process processables.

Reboot, tap F8, start in safe made, play tunes. Does it still skip? Try updating the sound driver

pirate music and buy LPs of shit you enjoy. I've been doing this for years. Cd's scratch too easily, the artwork is small and hard for my old man eyes to read. Not to mention they are too fucking expensive, also jewl cases break and are a pain in the ass. Just thinking about the stacks of them i have laying around makes me annoyed.

I don't buy CDs anymore, except for the artists I really want to support. My entire collection sits in boxes under my bed, and I really only listen to the music on my iPod... kinda sad. Maybe I'll sell all those CDs before they become a dead media.

Bring back the CD longbox! That wasn't a waste of time or money!
