i hope not, but if you think about it, its becoming a turnoff to fans. And i will tell you why, there are too many hardcore bands that really suck out there who keep getting shows, fight the cause and stop booking bad hardcore bands, like queer ones that use blacklights (ahem), as a matter of fact if you have fallen victum to seeing a bad hardcore band, list them here, this way we will know who not to book (but be serious, dont be a bitch)

there are still good hardcore shows around, you just have to see the right bands...the Rhythmden fest in ny with shai hulud, converge, walls of jericho, my bitter end, with honor, red chord, fassw, #12looks... was probably one of the most hardcore shows ive been to and it was only a month ago. hardcore's not dead, its just overshadowed by the metalcore scene.

Ok... did any hardcore bands play that show?

It died when it stopped being "hardcore/punk" and became just "hardcore"

Harcore = Metal = Hardcore their is no difference anymore. The only way to tell a "hardcore" band from a "metal" band is they way the dress/look/what record label they are on, Thats it! Unless you sound like hardcore bands from the 80s and they you are only trying to be retro or ironic and you suck anyway

All Im saying is in the 80s the two were very clearly defined hardcore sounded like hardcore and metal sounded like metal. Now its all a big melting pot and their is very little difference between the two. Im not sure where it started but bands like leeway, overcast, acme, and unbroken come to mind. just my humble opinion, not trying to be mean or start any fights.

unfortunatly many of you are idiots. GENRES EVOLVE INTO DIFFERENT SOUNDS, do you seriously think that metal sounded anything like it does today 20 years ago, yes but it sounded like what today would have a different genre. Hardcore has evolved into what it is today. i brought up this question saying that the amount of fans may be dying down. fags. hardcore stoped being hardcore in the 80's im stupid....shut the fuck up

toggletoggle post by skab at Nov 30,2005 1:23pm
anyway i think underoaths latest cd was the biggest disappointment in the hardcore and metal world, wanna know why cause they used to sound like this www.purevolume.com/oldunderoath an here http://server4.hxcmp3.com/bands/31321/index.php with the exception of reiniventing your exit (put there to show what they now sound like) this aint even their best stuff, anyway disappointment none the less

toggletoggle post by slowlypeelingtheflesh   at Nov 30,2005 1:40pm
the only thing that is killing that scene is when people act like douchebags at shows

when people don't want dancing/fighting dont fucking do it

Hardcore is not a genre. Rock and Roll is a genre.
Hardcore is a sub-genre. Those do not change. If they change to the point where they are nothing like how they started, a new sub-genre is created.
Bands like Converge will never be anything more than metalcore to me.
Hardcore is Bad Brains, MDC, Minor Threat, Jerrys Kids etc etc.

That's why it was called hardcore punk back then. A way to distinguish the more extreme punk bands from the more gay, new-wavey punk bands.
Pre-tough guy era, hardcore was basically wicked fast punk.

Try: "Some people actually know what real hardcore sounds like, and like it that way EVEN THOUGH it might not get them laid or sound great bumpin' from their dad's Acura."

Yeah, you're right, Overcast told Iron Maiden to be influenced by punk, and Unbroken (whoever the fuck they are) told Discharge to add metal to their sound. And Metallica to add Discharge to theirs. Good job on the history.

I also love the kids who think Blood for Blood and Hatebreed are "old school". Brilliant. And, I mean, there's not even the excuse that there isn't the internet and they can't do some research in five minutes, anymore. At least kids in the early nineties and before had a good reason to be ignorant.

"hardcore" in the sense of hardcore punk is not dead. it may not be the biggest draw for people getting into hardcore now, but there are still great bands around like paint it black, das oath and outbreak that stay pretty true to hardcore punk while still being somewhat original.

if we take "hardcore" not as hardcore punk, but as what many people consider hardcore now, there are still great bands. even though they broke up bands like majority rule, city of caterpillar played a creative variety of hardcore. for bands around now, cursed is a great example of a creative hardcore band.

I don't know why those bands even bother playing shows, anymore. They should just all agree to meet up on MySpace IM and exchange n00dz at a predetermined time.
