One of the first things you should notice about Hatebreed's new release, "Supremacy" is that Jamey's vocals are a lot louder and more violent this time around. His growls are now full-fledged bellows. Add this on top of a skull crushing rhythm section and the result is an album which is easily one of the most unrepentantly heavy metal releases of the new millennium. "Supremacy" is full of steam rolling riffs, stomping drums, and huge breakdowns. But there's a little more to this record than just volume, because some of the songs (like the shout-along chorus on "Defeatist") manage to be kind of catchy, and a few of Jamey's lyrics (i.e. "It's our struggles that define us") are actually rather intelligent and thought provoking. All in all, "Supremacy" may take a while to get warmed up to, but if you like hardcore or super heavy metal, this record will be your wet dream.

So from your review, is it heavy metal or tough guy hardcore? With Huge break downs, it is then called hard core. Enought of this shit!!!

the main problem with nu-metal and metalcore is that those particular styles give metal a bad name,
for instance, if you ask someone who is not into the heavier aspects of music if they listen to metal, they usually say no because their idea of metal is what they see marketed everywhere.
in magazines, malls (hot topic), "goths" that have no idea what they are doing but wear black lipstick because they're just so dark inside
people see these tshirts of slipknot, kittie, drowning pool, hatebreed, skinny puppy and whatever other bullshit music there is out there and assume that "oh, this is what metal must be like"
the reason that some of these bands are so "successful" is because they sign to major labels that are able to exploit music in general and mass produce the hell out of it
people always associate "mainstream" bands as "bad", this isn't always the case, for some bands who are genuinely successful probably got there from working hard and having real talent

look at megadeth and metallica, years ago they were rad as hell but over time they just stopped trying because they built up such a huge following that it didnt matter if the music they were making came fom the heart, they knew they could sell it and that was all that mattered

a shitty band sees what people are listening to and what is selling, so they make the same exact sounding music and sell that as their own so they can hope to get money for it

the point is, real talent and music are what any genre of music needs.
if a band really did care about pushing their genre forward instead of dragging them down they would see through all the glamour of it and realize if they can't make music that is a heartfelt effort, they're just gonna bring it right back down

i remember seing these guys at a place called maxalunas with unclops, red tide, and tyrant trooper. i still have the flyer! it was their 1st show. all i remember was when they hit the so called stage the place turned into a freaking washing machine and people were hanging from the rafters and it literally looked like a riot. i can honestly say i had never experienced such an uproar and chaos at a show. then again i'm from a metal background so seeing skinheads with their shirts off with tatts swinging chairs and stuff, i don't know. i bought their demo tape and still have it and its a horrible recording but i remember i liked the songs.
